Naturalisation - Date of first arrival in the UK

Hi all, Applying for naturalisation following 12 month ILR following 5 years on Tier 2. However, before all of that qualifying period, I was also a Masters student in the UK with a Tier 4 visa. I understand that period didn't qualify for the 5 year period (i.e. been here 7 years total) In the applic...

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

People applying for naturalization can still travel, but as I’m applying for my daughter’s registration, the waiting is super stressful as we can be stuck for 6 months without being able to travel.

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

You said they will take 6+ months - is that based on fact? Where did you hear it?

The mention about rejection was simply to exaggerate the fact that your comments are simply meant to scare other users if they're not based on evidence.

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

Very worried that there are almost zero reports of people applying through this method having received a response. Before this service, it seemed there was an average of 6 weeks. I appreciate the holidays might've impacted this, but having read only a single case from November being approved seems l...

Re: Child waiting for MN1 travelling abroad

Thanks, both. Indeed it seems you have the same uncertainty as I do. Brazilians don't need a visitor visa, but bringing her in as a visitor would technically not be right. She is a visitor awaiting BC (as she was born in the country she's entitled to it), but I just can't see how them being relaxed ...

Has any UKVCAS applicant received a response yet?

I haven't read a single case in the timeline topic of applicants through the new service getting a response.
It seems my decision to have paid for the premium lounge was terrible - clearly would've been better off sending documents by post for a MN1 application.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks

Re: Child waiting for MN1 travelling abroad

I mean applying for the visa now so I can travel.
What would that visa be?
Who knows if she’ll be registered by the time we return, no idea how long this will take.

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

Same concern here. And I even used the premium service (£200+). If that is actually slower than the old service, Can’t help but feel I was scammed!

Re: Child waiting for MN1 travelling abroad

Hi all,

Just adding to this - if she cannot travel and come back before she gets a British passport, what kind of dependent visa do we need to get her if we need to travel ahead of that? Both parents have ILR. Is there a ILR dependent Visa we could try to get before then?

Many thanks

Child waiting for MN1 travelling abroad

Hi all, My baby daughter is waiting for her citizenship registration (applied on 7th December through UKVCAS) but we're hoping to travel to our home country for her birthday in less than a month (8th February). That'll be 2 months after the biometric enrolment, so we're hoping for a resolution befor...

Same question here (no point discussing the contents of the application with my 9-month old), would be great to hear back from anyone who's submitted it.

Fastest MN1 application method

Hi all, I'm applying in person for mine and my wife's ILR on the 27th Nov - we expect to get the ILR back in about 10 days after that (mid-December). We have a 9 month old baby daughter born in the UK and we're planning on applying for her British citizenship straight after - ideally in time to get ...

Re: ILR for baby born recently

Hmmm.. not sure why u would want to spend that much money... Our son was born in December 2016 and I got ILR in August 2018, so in September 2018 we applied for Registation as British Citizen for him (around £1012 - MN1 form), he got certificate 2 weeks ago and now we r applying for his British pas...

Re: Premium Service appointment booking issue for ILR (LR)

Used Distill while at work and kept losing my windows to book (eg. was in meetings when the page changed). What worked for me on day 3 of trying was to refresh the booking page on my phone exactly at midnight and a slot appeared.
I think trying different devices at midnight can help. Good luck all!

Re: ILR for baby born recently

Thanks both.
So it seems I need to get a tier 2 dependant visa first before the child can apply together with us for ILR - which doesn't really solve the problem. Is that a correct assessment?

ILR for baby born recently

Hi all, Hope you can help: My baby was born in the UK in Feb and my wife & I will be eligible for ILR from late November. We're waiting for premium appointments to be available in order to apply then. Original plan was to wait for our ILR before getting the baby a British passport. However, as we're...

Is ILR application date the PEO appointment date?

Hi all, Quick one - If I'm eligible to apply for ILR from the 26th November (applying the 28 day rule before the 5th year anniversary on Tier 2), DOES THAT MEAN: a) I can fill in and pay for the online application before that (e.g. late October) and book my PEO appointment for the 26th November? b) ...
