Re: ILR through tier 2 and tier 1 global talent promise

You can combine Tier1 + Tier2 and apply for ILR while being on Tier2.

So unfortunately you cannot be currently on Tier1 when applying for ILR.

Re: Can I apply for ILR without the letter from my current employer?

Current employer letters are mandatory, you cannot get away with that. Your application will be rejected if you don't provide them! On a side note, I am not sure if employers in UK can force you to stay even if you sign a contract and wanted to leave them later. Maybe other members can comment on th...

yes, for you visa approval/decision date is 26/01/2016.
So you can use this date for calculating your 5 year continuous period.

Re: Applied for citizenship over 6 months ago - no contact or confirmation from HO

If you don't have a Case ID, I guess the last resort would be to contact UKVI using Unique Application ID/Payment Reference which you can find on your completed application form at the time of submission along with your date of birth, passport number etc. UKVI email: nationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeof...

I know I can count the time before entry clearance issue date and my first entry.
Where did you read that? You cannot count any time before visa issue/valid-from date.
Your 5 year clock starts from visa issue/valid-from date.

You can apply for ILR 28 days before completing 5 year period.

I got my ILR via Tier2 on a fixed term contract and as long as the employer says you are still needed on the job, that should be enough.
