Re: Child born abroad with settled status

For Settled Status there has never been a requirement for CSI - this was required under the old EU regulations as adopted by the UK - relating to persons exercising EU Treaty Rights as "Students" or "Self-sufficients". As far as I know it was never required for children. Residents are covered under ...

If they have been cancelled they don't exist - so not necessary to declare.

Re: Can I travel between submitting application and my biometric appointment date?

I believe the answer is yes, but I'm having trouble confirming this.

Thank you.
Travel per se after the submission and before/after biometrics is allowed (unlike for certain immigration applications, which naturalisation is not).

Yes - children born before mother was granted British citizenship do not automatically become British as a result.

Re: Civil Penalty for working while on benefits. Will it affect citizenship application or NO

Note that ILR is an application (the last available) under the immigration regulations - naturalisation is under the British Nationality Act with it's own requirements. It's a discretionary application, from both the viewpoint of the applicant (you don't have to have it) and the government (they may...

Re: Question on residence requirements - date examples and "on the day" clarification

Why do you have a tight window for application? There's plenty of time to apply I'm sure.
1. That should be ok.
2. Apply on a different date - you shouldn't really rush the application. However, the day you leave the uk, and the return day, don't count as absence.

There is a fast track option for childrens' first passport application available:

(note not for adult first passport...)

Re: Naturalisation application

Unfortunately there's no easy way to get any updates or any idea of time scale. We have no insight into UKVI processes. You could try and involve your MP (not a guarantee they can speed up anything), or just keep on waiting.

Re: Naturalisation application

This is a standard email reported by many members. It's basically saying they may not meet their 6 months target for completion. The bit about "complex case" baffles many applicants but it seems meaningless. Even if you call you won't be talking to caseworkers.

Re: Observations on the first UK passport

Does your VN passport show a different name from your UK one?
I believe that may happen when HMPO accept that the names can't be the same, due to the rules of the other country.

Your British citizenship doesn't transfer automatically to your children. They need to be registered (not naturalised) using form MN1.

Wife could apply as soon as she gains ILR, and you have naturalised as a British citizen (your British passport in this context is not relevant) - no waiting period. And she satisfies all the requirements.

Re: Question for naturalisation

I guess you'll be ok - though I always suggest not to rush, a few days extra won't make much of a difference and may avoid headaches later on. There are too many posts where applicants suddenly discover avoidable mistakes. Personal choice of course.

It should be on the P60, Employers Tax Office Reference - suppose UTR will do if you can't find the ref number. Also your NI number will point them to your tax account.

If you provided the English test for ILR then you can rely on that fact (chose the correct option on the form) - the validity of the test certificate in that case is not relevant.

I have no experience of family visas but I think the principle is whether you are able to sponsor family members (including financial requirements) and the family members can be sponsored. Not sure that UKVI will delve into the relationship over time - you'll have to provide documents of course show...

Thank you so much! What if I don't explain that I'm not sure of the exact dates? Many applicants don't have a complete set of data and documents, or just don't remember everything. It's your choice whether to explain or not - what is good practice though is to explain where you had to make estimate...
