Re: residential evidence five years

Hi, I am planning to apply for Citizenship soon. To prove my residential evidence for 5 years, I have only one bill in my name for the entire 5 years. How many proof do I need to submit? thanks, Sathya You just scan/submit your passport(s) covering the five years residency period - no bills required.

Re: Directive 2004/38/EC following UK withdrawal from EU

As far as I know there is no specific law framework dealing with non-EU citizens' as part of or resulting from the EU Withdrawal Agreement. Non-EU family members of EU citizens are third party nationals and if "visa nationals" require a visa to visit the Schengen area. Perhaps this link to the3milli...

Re: Travel after Brexit

Note that "EU Settled Status" is a UK immigration status - a British citizen is not under immigration control and therefore can't hold any immigration status. You should be able to use your ID card to leave the UK and as you say it's valid for travel within the EU. On your return presenting your ID ...

Re: Unpaid Business rates

Being in debt in itself is not a reason for refusal - what's important is that you comply with any arrangements, payment plans, etc. as agreed with your creditors or the court judgment (if any). CCJs need to be disclosed if you have one. Please refer to the guidance document used by UKVI caseworkers...

Re: Proof of living in th UK for 5 years route

Sorry but I don't think there's any point asking here which job titles are suitable. We can only point to the official list which is publicly available. Surely you know someone who will fit one of descriptions, and qualifies as a referee - list copied here for reference: ‘Acceptable professional per...

Perhaps show her the list of accepted professions and see whether one of those listed fits her profession. I can't advise on this past the list from the guidance. Alternatively, look for another person qualified/willing to be your professional referee.

Re: BRP renewal application fee

If I recall correctly the biometrics fee is £19.20 for any application so that seems to be the difference.
Why the difference? Perhaps someone else can explain.

Re: Proof of living in th UK for 5 years route

That is a job title - what is the professional qualification of the person?
Member of a professional body? Lawyer or social worker?
You need to ask the referee about this.

Re: Civil partnership and living in EU

You need to check with the country authorities whether civil partnership laws are in force there - if not you can't apply as civil partner. Not every country has implement the relevant laws (it's not EU law). If you are visiting from the UK you will need a Schengen visa as you are a third country na...

Re: EEA Settled Status and Employment

Congrats for the new arrival!

Settled Status is a UK immigration status (no longer based on EU Treaty Rights regulations) - it is on residency basis, irrespective whether you work, what you work, or not.

And of course new baby is British - go straight for the passport!

Re: Applying for 1st Passport - Naturalised British Citizen (5-year family route) - Filipino Mother

If a person has naturalised as a British citizen all they need to provide is their certificate and foreign passport(s).
She is applying within the UK presumably? The visa route to citizenship is not relevant.

Just to add to the above: I currently have ILR. I haven't applied for Naturalisation since spending 1 year on ILR i.e. 06-07-2020. If i get my naturalisation approved and get british passport before their ILR, can they apply for naturalisation as soon as they get ILR? or do they still have to wait ...

And I guess you/wife are concerned that she won't have an official ID until the new passport ha...

- The question asks for "any" applications, meaning all - some of the details are "if known".
- Payment by card using your brother's should be fine, as long as funds are available.

Re: Settled status and living abroad or EU

The link relates to people holding UK ILR only. If you hold UK ILR, i.e. specifically applied for it (not Settled Status), you are likely to loose ILR after 2 years absence, but may be able to apply for a returning resident visa. The EU Settled Status is more generous, i.e. 5 years absence (pre-sett...

Re: Settled status and living abroad or EU

No expert of Settled Status but consider that this 5 years allowance for Settled Status holders hasn't really been tested yet - scheme came in some time late 2018. Also the Home Office is well known for it's badly worded guidance on almost every topic .... what they mean (I think) is if you go over ...

Re: Referees for a child citizenship application from the same school

Referees must not be related to each other (whether through blood or marriage), they can be colleagues.
So this will be ok - unless the HT can support his concern. My referees (adult application) were colleagues in the same company where I worked.

Re: Naturalisation - choosing the route

You have a choice then - it's not a rule that you must apply on the 3 year route if you are married to a Brit - myself applied on 5 year rule even though could have gone on 3yr. The end result is the same.
