Re: Extension of EU pre-settled status

Note that the UK Settled Status scheme is under UK regulations, not EU, and doesn't have the concept of "exercising treaty rights". EU Treaty Rights are irrelevant when your friend comes to upgrade to full settled status, after five years.

Re: Citizenship

If you received ILR in Jan 2020 you can apply for naturalisation after 12 months, in January 2021. Unless you are married to a British citizen in which case you could apply now. Your previous immigration history (pre-ILR) is not relevant for the timing of your naturalisation application..

Re: Previous Immigration applications & employment history

1. The requirement is to state all immigration applications - where you don't have full details available give details to the best of your knowledge.
2. Employment history in the UK only, irrespective of the visa you had at the time, up to 10 years as applicable.

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Just got an information from my mate. HO is dealing immigration interviews online now. But I don’t know how they will do online interviews for BC or ceremonies though! There are no "immigration interviews" for naturalisation, it's not an immigration application. Perhaps you can provide a source, we...

Re: Hereditary Citizenship

Assume that's all possible if everyone remembers the principle - importantly if a person British by descent has a child in the UK that child will be British otherwise than by descent.

Re: Can I get EEA FP as non-EEA national if Brother is Dual EEA and UK citizen?

I understand the principle now is that dual nationals, i.e. British + another/EU nationality, are treated as British for immigration purposes. That means they cannot sponsor under EU regulations, only under UK immigration rules, with its strict requirements, minimum earnings, etc.

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Quick question: if we submit an application in the coming days/weeks, does the HO still expect us to post passports/other documents as soon as possible? Or can these documents be sent once this round of coronavirus restrictions is lifted? Applications are only via online - you upload scans of your ...

Re: Applying when number of dependents might change

At the date of application (submit & pay) your statement would be correct, i.e. nil dependents. And having a child after that is not a material change for the purposes of your application, which is individual to you. If you are still not comfortable with this particular aspect you could write an exp...

Re: Applying when number of dependents might change

The application date is the day you submit/pay online - the appointment is for biometrics only and I understand that until then you may still edit the application. However, declaring a dependent is not part of the requirements you have to fulfil for naturalisation.

Re: Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?

The requirements relate to the days out of the country up to the application date, not after the date.
Travel out of the country does not impact the decision because naturalisation isn't an immigration application.

Re: Naturalisation good character help

Debts as such are not an issue (we all have them), and if you run into problems meeting them it's not an issue either if you have payment plans in place and complying with them. UKVI do have access to credit reports of course. But there are a fair number of applicants on here mainly with CCJs who st...

For naturalisation there is no concept of being a dependent of the husband - each application is individual and husband doesn't need to give permission or provide paperwork.

Re: National Insurance

Note that NHS Health Surcharge for visa applicants and NI contribution shortfalls are totally separate. Shortfalls in NI contributions are related to the level of state pension you are accruing. It is not compulsory to make top ups and therefore there is no issue when you are applying for naturalisa...
