Blowfish,

The simplest way would be for your BOC friend to register as a British Citizen after which he would be free to live and work in Portugal as long as he wishes.

You will be fine, they will only consider the notarised copy of your passport as proof of age.

Topic: Second HSMP extension

I am of the opinion that a further extension for 4 years will be given. It is not compulsory for HSMP visa holders to apply for ILR at all and they can keep applying for HSMP extensions (currently given for 4 years) for as long as required i.e. apply for an extension every 4 years. You can apply for...

In my opinion, the only way of reversing the retrospective application of the rules will be by court action.

No amount of publicity, campaigning or involving MP's will change anything.

He doesn't have much chance of staying in the UK without him going back to his home country first. Maybe he can qualify under some other category? Or he can wait around till he has completed 14 years in the UK and then apply for ILR (assuming the 14 year rule will still be there when he applies). Or...

There appears to be an awful lot of confusion about this. There is no time limit on when to enter the UK after issuance of your Entry Clearance, you can choose not to go to the UK at all. The only issues that will arise are when you apply for further leave to remain in the UK. Also, you can stay out...

Sorry, John, you are right, got mixed up. MN1 is indeed the correct form to use. I do not think that failure to obtain a visa or passport for the child will affect the MN1 application.

John,

I am quite sure I read somewhere that pass certificates are only valid for 1 year, I cannot lay my hands on the source straight away, perhaps someone else could confirm whether this is true or not.

If I can add my 0.002p, for peace of mind, it would be prudent to obtain a passport and a dependant visa for the new born. Now what would happen if this was not done? The baby would become a British Citizen on the day the parents get ILR, by virtue of being born in the UK and one of the parents subs...

Congratulations! I assume that your baby will be born in the UK? If yes, it will be British automatically (you don't say how you became a BC), all you need to do is send in a passport application for the baby, not sure the exact docs required but these will probably be the baby's birth certificate, ...

COA rule suspended

So the COA rules have been suspended for marriages. If the Home Office decides not to appeal against this ruling, I guess the Home Office will restrict FLR(M) applications to post only so that they can scrutinise such applications better to weed out shams. This ruling shows that the Home Office is n...

I think the more relevant question should be is the meeting by invitation only or are there any pre meeting registration formalities.

It would be facial discrimination (read unlawful) to limit the meeting to people of Chinese origin only and I am sure that's not what is intended.
