James, Your strategy is risky and if you are caught out, you can kiss your chances of living in the UK goodbye. Remember that James will make the ILR application and James (irrespective of nationalities, passports etc. that James may hold) has not lived in the UK for the required 2 year period. I am...

Your employer should give you a P45 when your employment with them ends.

There is no obligation on them to give you experience letters or references, this is at their discretion.

Have a good look at this if you have not already done so:

esp paragraph 4.5

I believe that a postal application for ILR may succeed if you submit all the evidence that you have already prepared.

British, Good luck with your spouse's application tomorrow. I do not see why a further 2 year spouse visa will not be issued. One thing which is not clear is, was your spouse's ILR application formally considered and rejected or were you simply told that your spouse did not qualify for ILR without a...

If I may add my 0.002p: The 2 year spouse visa is a probationary visa in which period the couple are expected to live together as a couple if the "foreign" spouse is to go and get ILR. In your case, even though you are still married and the marriage does exist, the fact that you and your spouse live...

It is not mandatory to enter the UK within 3 months of the visa, your wife may enter the UK at anytime within the 2 year validity of the visa and if she doesn't, she just has to apply for a new one if she wants to come to the UK after the 2 years have gone by provided you are still married to her.

Hi, Regrettably, your law degree (if equivalent to the UK LLB) would not qualify to be classed as a Phd so it appears that you would not qualify for the HSMP visa. Other than a work permit, you may wish to look into the student visa option which would enable you to work part time during term time an...

My sympathies but it just shows that there is a high price to pay for your friend being an "illegal" immigrant.

If he wants treatment here in the UK, the only way I can see out would be for friends and family to raise money for him privately and try approaching "cancer" charities.

If your baby was born in the UK after both parents received their ILR, the baby is automatically a British Citizen.

All you need to do is submit the passport application form for him/her along with the supporting docs i.e baby's birth certificate, proof of parents ILR and marriage certificate.

The UK born child will not be illegal and you can apply for the baby's visa along with yours in Aug. 2007. Infact, the only reason a visa would be required is if the child was to go abroad and come back to the UK, otherwise, there is no requirement for a child born in the UK to "foreigners" to have ...
