I believe an ILE entry clearance is issued for 2 years i.e. the person has to travel to the UK within 2 years of the ILE visa being issued to "activate" it. The validity of the visa will thus state that it is issued from say 25/10/2006 to 25/10/2008 and the remarks will state "indefinite leave to en...

nemo, Congratulations to you and spouse for winning the appeal. I presume that the Home Office (on behalf of the ECO) will not have appealed against the decision. You should get in touch with the British Embassy in Sri Lanka (not the local partner) and send them a copy of the determination. They wil...

It will not be a crime but it is unethical taking up the offer when you know from now that you won't be starting work with the NHS and you may find yourself in breach of contract with the NHS as well.

Have you thought about other options in addition to ILR under the 14 years rule? e.g. spouse visa/HSMP/business/investor etc. The only drawback would be that these other options would involve you having to leave the UK and applying for entry clearance from your home country, which may not be a bad t...

Wrong, you don't need a Master's degree to apply. The rules state that you must " Have been awarded an HND, or a UK recognised undergraduate degree, Master's degree or PhD by a Scottish institution of Higher or Further Education." Did you obtain your undergraduate degree from a Scottish university a...

Guys, not necessarily - for example, sometimes, you can enter a country on transit without a visa if you are moving on to a 3rd country. I have just found out that even though I'm an Indian Citizen, because I'm married to a British Citizen, I can enter the Czech Republic without having to obtain a ...

I do not know much about WP's so here goes: In the OP's case, does the new employer need to advertise the position if the OP's job description remains the same? I do not think an increase in salary would have any impact on the application as this is in line with natural progression and each applicat...

Studying full time on leave to remain under the HSMP is a violation of the conditions of leave to enter/remain in the UK. You should apply immediately to switch to student status using the FLR(S) form available on the IND website. I do not know for certain whether it is possible to switch from HSMP ...

Have a look at this thread: http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=9376 Just a word of caution, and it seems that many Kenyan Asians fail to understand this: Spouse visas and indefinite leave to remain/enter visas are normally issued to gain UK residence, not to be used as glorified Visito...

Jambo bwana Patel, Yes, as you found out, the BHC in Nairobi does not accept "religious" marriage certificates despite them being recognised as valid for other purposes in Kenya. Many other British Embassies in other countries have the same policy. Therefore the BHC did not take your religious marri...

Londoh, No reason to panic, your wife has been granted indefinite leave to enter the UK which will automatically be deemed as indefinite leave to remain in the UK once she passes through UK borders. Just make sure that your wife enters the UK before 10/09/2008 so that the entry clearance does not be...

Londoh, Your wife already has already been granted permanent residence in the UK, if issued inside the UK, it is called indefinite leave to remain (ILR) and if issued outside the UK, it is called indefnite leave to enter (ILE). In practice, it is one and the same thing. Your wife can naturalise as a...

Blowfish,

The simplest way would be for your BOC friend to register as a British Citizen after which he would be free to live and work in Portugal as long as he wishes.
