Re: Pre-Booked Flights for Schengen Application

You already figured some of the information out yourself (the Schengenform, skipping the questions with an * and no fees). More info can be found in de EU handbook for the processing of visa, which has a section on family of EU/EEA nationals (page 81> ): http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/what-we-...

Re: Pre-Booked Flights for Schengen Application

Yes, an itinerary/reservation/option should be enough, thus not requiring you to make any serious costs untill th visa has been granted. If you have read the handbook you probably know, but just incase: If you or your spouse is not Polish, and your parents (in law) come to visit you, this would be a...

Re: Moving to Netherlands from Ireland with non-EU wife

As far as translating papers goes, the Dutch authorities accept documents written in Dutch, English, French and German. So if the documents you use to apply are in any of those languages or translated into any of those languages, you should be fine.

Re: 3months on, don't need tourist visa any more, what to do

You should contact: - The embassy - The Belgian ministry of Foreign affairs - SOLVIT - EU Home Affairs Explain that the embassy took far too long for a normal procedure, but that (assuming you are indeed covered by the Directive 2004/38) that they shouldn't have charged a fee, it should have been pr...

You could but are not obligated to. You need to show the embassy that: - there is a family relation, by marriage --> mariage papers (plus translation so the embassy can verify the content of the documents themselves). - ID the both of you via a (copy of) passpors so they can match the names on the m...

Re: Success: Applied for new Schengen while I had a valid on

Spain and all other embassies must allow for direct requests for applications and grant them within 2 weeks of the request. It's called right of direct access and covered by article 17 of the Visa Code. An explination can be found on the EU Home Affairs website, the second -smaller- handbook. Thus t...

Re: Schengen Visa for spouse for a British Citizen

If you do not a "family member of a citizen of the union/EU/EEA" card it's best to apply for a visa. Since you are family of an EU/EEA (UK) national traveling together to Spain, the visa should be free, minimal documentation and processed ASAP (2 weeks max). You can go either via VFS (they are optio...

Re: Schengen Visa for Spain Residence - Please Help!

You probably wol be allright. As for the Spanish: VFS is entirely optional, all applicants can deal with the Spanish embassy directly for appointments, most certainly EU/EEA family members. And an appontment must be granted within 2 weeks. If this is not the case they are violating the Schengen visa...

Great, but if you and nobody else complaints to the French (embassy and ministry) and Solvit or EU Commission nothing will ever change. You could have send an e-mail or phone call to actual French staff (officers), rather then giving in to incompetent locally hired people who apparany are not traine...

Errr?? Just check the Belgium embassies website for instructions, apply directly at the embassy (why would anyone go through VFS/TLS for a Schengen visa??) -make an appointment by mailing the embassy, you should get one within 2 weeks max- and if the application is complete it should take 15 calenda...

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

That the pasport will expire in less then 3 months is not relevant either for EU/EEA applications. You could contact Solvit and complain to the embassy, French MoFA and notify the EU. Even an expired passport does not mean you cuoldn't gain entry though that would certainly complicate things to a le...

Thanks for sharing! I wouldn't have expected Easyjet to let her board (most airliners still don't know about the Directive or because they don't want to risk a fine and costs for returning passengers that may be declined at the border simply often chose to decline boarding). Anyway you should compla...

In theory it shouldn't be that hard if you as the EU national are self sufficient (or better yet, have a job), as per Direcitve 2004/38/EC (freedom of movement). In practise I don't know how easy/difficult the Spaniards are. http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/residence/documents-formalities/non-eu...

Best to check with the Dutch Immigration & Naturalisation Department (IND):

The answer most likely is "no, you can't" but if you want to be 100% sure check with them. Sorry.

Yes, it's best you do since a visa does not guarantee access at the border and a border guard could always ask you to show that you meet all the requirements (suffucient funds, insurance etc.).

Well, if you yourself chose to use the services of VFS, then they can charge a service fee, but as you probably know, these external services providers are entirely optional and the embassy has to inform people that they can either apply directly (also for appointment reservations) OR chose the exte...

That is a violation of the directive (2004/38/EC). The visa cannot be denied unless they genuinly believe there is no true family relation (scam marriage). Previous Overstay, reasons for return, funds, hotel reservations etc. are not required and cannot be used to deny the visa. A visa should be iss...

Indeed but it's always best to get a visa in advance. Issued for free, as soon as possible (max 15 calendar days, if an appointment is required for an application it should be granted within 2 weeks). If you don't, expect a lot of hassle and possibly unlawful denial to board!

AFAIK the islands are part of the Schengen area and your wife has a normal Spanish residence permit. Question is why she does not have one that says she is a family member of an EU/EEA citizen. As a Brit (or any other EU national except Spaniards in Spain) your direct family from outside the EU shou...

See the sticky on EU/EEA family members. You should have a " family member of EU/EEA national" resident card issieud by the UK. You can travel visa free to other EU/EEA nations.

Also check the EU webpage:
