How long is NARIC certificate valid for meeting English Req?

Dear Forum, I am British and the sponsor for my wife, who is a non-EU citizen. We moved to the UK in December 2014, so we're halfway through the 5-year route and compiling evidence for an FLR(M) application next month. My wife has an overseas degree which meets the English requirement CEFR C1, and w...

Dear Forum, I am British and the sponsor for my wife, who is non-EU citizen. We moved to the UK in December 2014, so we're currently halfway through the 5-year route and compiling evidence for an FLR(M) application next month. Re: FLRM - need to travel, and apply close to exp date

You will be returning to the UK before your current visa expires, so why do you think there would be a problem? It's irrelevant that your visa expires four days later. At the time of entry your visa is still valid. You should make sure your passport has six months' validity though. However, I would ...

FLR(M) - evidence required to meet financial requirements

Dear Forum Members, I am a British citizen by birth and the sponsor of my wife, who is here on a spouse Visa (5-year route). I am currently employed on a contract which finishes on the 31st August, and her Visa expires during the first week in September. I've already started looking for continuing e...

Re: Supreme Court to hand down judgment in MM Case

Today’s ruling doesn’t come as a surprise but it’s disappointing for all those of us who were hoping for a bit of a break. There are a couple of facts I find confusing about how the MIR is calculated – maybe someone would like to clarify or speculate on these? Firstly, the first £16,000 in savings i...

Re: Supreme Court to hand down judgment in MM Case

Thanks for posting this – I was unaware that they would be making a decision about this case this week. If they reduced the minimum level of the financial requirement it could make a big difference to us when we apply to get my spouse's visa renewed in August. Will any ruling made by the Supreme Cou...

Re: Spouse visa (FLR) - What if you can't meet the requireme

My wife isn't working at the moment. She was the unofficial carer for my mum, who died just before Christmas. She is looking for work at the moment though. If she is working does her income count towards the £18,600 requirement? Your wife's earnings will qualify towards meeting the minimum income l...

Re: Spouse visa (FLR) - What if you can't meet the requireme

Thank you for your replies - you've been most helpful. We don't have any children so I'm guessing from what you've said, the 10-year route is out. My wife isn't working at the moment. She was the unofficial carer for my mum, who died just before Christmas. She is looking for work at the moment thoug...

Spouse visa (FLR) - What if you can't meet the requirements?

Apologies if this question has been has previously – I couldn’t find it elsewhere on the forum. I’ve just found out that my contract is about to end in August, at exactly the same time as my wife’s initial Spouse Visa expires. Obviously I am already looking for a new job but my concern is what will ...

Re: Meeting financial requirements for renewal of spouse vis

How long have you been with the school?? I believe that after two years of temporary contracts in the same role it automatically becomes permanent? Or something like that?? Obviously this is not an immigration matter and I am no expert! https://www.gov.uk/fixed-term-contracts/renewing-or-ending-a-f...

Re: Meeting financial requirements for renewal of spouse vis

HO don't care about your outgoings or debt. As long as the debt is being repaid of course. Employment needs to be current and 'ongoing'. You need to submit employment contract and/or employment letter. That's great - thanks again for your help. It would seem that if my school only offers me another...

Re: Meeting financial requirements for renewal of spouse vis

Because the family member has to write a letter saying the money is a gift. If they write the letter and then expect repayment, that would be fraud. Fair enough! :) I've been reading through the financial part of form FLR(M). They don't appear ask about any existing debts the sponsor might have. I ...

Re: Meeting financial requirements for renewal of spouse vis

You cannot use 'borrowed or loaned' money to meet the financial requirement through savings. HO can ask for a long papertrail to prove the money is yours from savings and not borrowed or loaned from a bank or family. I can see that being an issue if money was borrowed from a bank or other commercia...

Re: Meeting financial requirements for renewal of spouse vis

Thank you for your feedback physicskate, especially about the savings from the sale of our house - I wasn't aware of that. Presently, my wife doesn't work as she was caring for my mum until she died last month (but of course she can go out to work now). Yes, I'm teaching in a very nice secondary sch...

Meeting financial requirements for renewal of spouse visa

Hi, my wife is non-EEA national currently here on a spouse visa. We’re 2 years down the 5 year route and her first visa is due to expire in September 2017. I am teacher on contract until Easter, but this will likely be extended to the end of August and I earn sufficient to meet the financial require...

Financial requirement for FLR - when are children dependent?

Hi, I'm relatively new at this so apologies if this in the wrong section. I'm a British citizen and my wife's here on a spouse visa (Family life as a partner – 5 year route), which is dependent on us meeting the new financial requirements. We are thinking of starting the family within the next year ...

Renewal of spouse visa - meeting accommodation requirement

Hi, I'm new here so apologies if this post is in the wrong section. I'm a British citizen and my wife's here on a spouse visa which was granted for 33 months. We are nearing the end of this period so we will need to apply for a renewal. I am in full-tine employment (> £20,000) and my wife has a NARI...
