MN1 supporting documents

After having my application for British citizenship approved, I will submit form MN1 for my 8 year-old daughter born abroad. My understanding is that this will be under s. 3(1) under the discretion of the Secretary of State. Now, question time for me: because we are EEA citizens I understand that no...

Highly unlikely your petition will make any difference or change.
Perhaps engaging a few MPs would be more productive, but again, it is unlikely most MPs will be interested in this situation which only affects non-British citizens.

Re: Sign and Change the Imigration Rules

it turns out to be cheaper paying 150ish quid and sitting the b1 exam than taking the Secretary of State to court. True. Also remember that non-EEA immigrants pay over a small fortune to the government for immigration any way. My immigration ten years ago has cost me about £5000-6000 overall and th...

Re: Sign and Change the Imigration Rules

getting a change in their requirements, which as I understand are set by using Royal Prerogative powers, seems an almost impossible challenge. Errr, no. The requirements are not issued under the Royal Prerogative. They are issued by ministers under powers delegated to them by Parliament using legis...

Re: Sign and Change the Imigration Rules

I wholeheartedly agree that evidence of English language should be broader. There are many certifications above the required B1 level that they don't accept. For example, Cambridge First Certificate, CAE, CPE. But also it is obvious that people who are integrated in the education system, as it is th...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

Thank you. I see your point, but have no explanation of why. Only I have observed that as from August decisions are being taken sooner. I can only think of the home office hiring new caseworkers who are able to take faster decisions because the just get new applications and don't have a backlog. An...

Re: Referee for MN1 form

Now that my naturalization is approved, I'm going to apply for my daughter with MN1. Today it was parents evening in her school and I took the opportunity to ask a couple of her teachers. Both agreed and said they've done it before, so no problem. I think GP or dentist are less likely to agree. Anyw...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

Hi, The status of my application (application date as 17/7) changed to Decided last Monday (6/11) but I still haven't received any post (been 7 working days). I am quite worried if it has been lost in the post as I assume 2nd class mail typically takes 2-3 days max. Any advice on how best to procee...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

Today in the morning i received a letter from home office telling me that my case it is more complex and it will take longer than 6 months to be decided, i went on the internet today to check my status and and it went to decided? What it can be ? I can only think of two reasons. One is that decided...

Re: "Decided" after just 1 month

The are now a few September applications which have been decided within a similar timeframe, including mine. All of them approved so far.

But yes, I know the feeling 😨

Don't worry. Most likely you'll receive an approval letter within the next few days.

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

I am trying to understand if the online checker is actually working on not. Is the general feeling that it is not working as it previously did? We all know by now that it is not a real-time system but wonder if anyone has proof that it batch updates every day like it used to? It does. My status was...

Re: Sent AN form with a QP card rather than PR card

If they reach a decision they will do it on the facts existing at the time the decision is taken, so likelihood is they ask for a fresh application and new fee once you get PR document. What will happen if you manage to get a PR document before your citizenship application is decided? I don't know. ...

Re: Sent AN form with a QP card rather than PR card

This summer I got my PR card in around 45 days. Same timeframe for my partner and child, who applied once I receive mine. But that's not the main issue. You have to wait for twelve months after you acquire PR, which is not necessarily the date the card is issued. On the other hand, withdrawing does ...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

Swintoosh - are you tracking these 500 applications manually, or do you have a little script that you created? If you have a script, would you mind sharing it? The problem I can foresee here, in addition to this being useless because those numbers are shared for different applications, is...

Re: "Alternative Evidence of Residence - British Citizenship application"

You don't give many details, but it looks like your passport is not stamped and they need other evidence. Have you ever paid council tax? If yes, council tax statement should do. Alternatively, if you have ever worked or been self employed, request a statement of taxes an NI contributions from https...

Re: dual national help please!!

This is part of the HMPO one name for all purposes passport policy. It will not affect your British citizenship, but may affect your right to obtain a British passport because British passports are not a right. They are used under Royal Prerogative powers and the Crown has discretion as to the rules...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

Yes I know my statistical analysis could be skewed, I've already stated that I don't know if it's just naturalisation and registration cases. However not many other cases dealt by Home Office take more than 5 months to consider. Yes, if you apply through NCS and submit a JCAP application with famil...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

I have now traced about 200 applications (ref 2xxxxxx700 to 2xxxxxxx900) in which 3 are mine - applied 9-Jun-2017, receipt confirmation sent to me on 19-Jun-2017. Here is the statistics: 76/201 are "not recognised" - majority would be family members of main applicant, these don't get updated or tra...
