Can't believe I finally get to say this, but the hubbie has just received his confirmation of citizenship! It's been a bloody ridiculously long road but finally the end is here. Application date was Sep 2009 as a spouse of an Irish citizen. Thank God we won't have to deal with INIS anymore ... what ...

wow, great news for you. have to say i am rather annoyed that they are now going straight to approving people who have only just applied without first clearing the backlog of ppl who have been waiting 2 years upwards though! what happened to "processing applications in a chronological order"??!!!

I would say you must read the speech of Minister Alan Shatter and you will find out according to new fashion there are very few or no checks for spouse of Irish citizen, whereas a regular application have a long process. When I was in this process it took almost 18 months to INIS to have my Garda r...

hi all, I've been doing some clean up work on the Citizenship spreadsheet (fixing poorly formed dates etc.) and though I'd update with some stats from there. I'm curious about this .. I don't understand what the relevance of these "further doc's" are and how INIS are entitled to ask for them or what bearing they can have on an application. Citizenship is granted/not granted based on a list of requirements (depend varying on grounds of application) and mi...

Re: change of addewss

Hi Fatty patty & Scrudu, I got my approval letter last Thursday based on 5 yr residency in the State. Me & my family have always had medical cards (not GP visit card) for 9 years cos`our income is low though we never claimed Social Welfare benefits. So, if Medical Card was to be an issue may be i w...

Re: change of addewss

You do raise a very valid point scrudu. But medical cards are issued by HSE it is not linked to DSW (told by an acquaintance in DSW). Its like a child being called to the health centre for screening and other stuff while in school, that is also relying on govt dont you think, but its provided free ...

I didn't see this on the Ireland forum and think it'd be worth putting there as well as on the UK forum as many people CTA residents post their EU questions in the forum of where they are based (UK/IRL). I'm def going to vent my spleen in that response form!!

Re: change of addewss

also i had a medical card for one year i used it may be 4-5 times will it make any affect or be considered as social welfare. as far as medical card is concerned that is not a biggie. Once you are paying tax that is your entitlments based on your means and tax take. Stay away from claiming any bene...

Re: Any idea of timeframe for Naturalisation reapplicants?

Thanks all. They're double-yellow parking & bulb-failure (one headlamp not working)! I've now reapplied, & it's being acknowledged. Thanks again. Update on hubbies app: We phoned DoJ Citizenship helpline which said the application had "been sent on for Gardai checks". Not sure what exactly your question is .. is it whether you will be granted citizenship? The rules that apply to oth...

Its quiet strange because spouses of Irish Citizens usually get their answers in 12-18 months. Where did you get this figure? From the figures in http://www.editgrid.com/user/scrudu/citizenship_apps, of spouses of Irish citizens who have received a decision, the average processing time is 22 mths, ...
