Just a request to people to update/add their citizenship application dates to http://www.editgrid.com/user/scrudu/citizenship_apps It's easier to see progress there than trawling through 175 pages of posts. Thanks! Our dates: hubbie applied for citizenship in Nov 2009 as spouse of Irish citizen, so ...

If the person is not already in receipt of such, then they will get no allowance but may qualify for travel allowance. Fulltime courses are free. Part-time/evening courses cost va...

to answer your questions 1) You can repeat this question on the UK Boards, but my understanding is no, they will not pay, as your in-laws are not ordinarily resident in the UK. NHS cover is for UK residents. 2) I think you'll find it easier to find the opposite information, i.e. when the NHS pays fo...

Pierre: What do you mean mean by "cap of the bottle". I think it's disgraceful that those women brought their children and babies along to this protest. By the way they were sitting, they obviously expected to be physically removed. Why were they willing to subject their children to this upset? The ...

From 2009, yes. But is it true to say that, according to the data you have, seven applications were lodged in 2010 - two of which were decided (approved) in five months - the other five are not yet decided and have been pending for, on average, two months? I don't know. They obviously don't process...

haha ... I don't think so :) From the above figures we can definitely see the processing times are dropping, but it wouldn't be true to say processing times are so short. From the large numbers of unprocessed applications, you can see that many (most) applications are taking WAY longer than that (av...

I thought I'd post some statistics based on the information that people have kindly provided at http://www.editgrid.com/user/scrudu/citizenship_apps . Why would a non-EU citizen be allowed vote in a EU elections or referendum? As Ben says, only EU citizens are allowed vote in EU elections. The same would be true in any country, e.g. a non-US spouse of a US citizen would not be allowed vote in US elections even if they were legally resident there o...

When you go to the GNIB to convert your temporary Stamp D to a "Stamp 4" Residency stamp, your passport should be stamped with a 5 year Stamp 4. It is incorrect for you to be issued a 1 year visa. Your Irish husband must be present with you and you will need to provide a copy of your marriage certif...

Walrusgrumble : I think you're completely off the mark there. When comparing the waiting times to other countries for processing, you should compare the processing times, and not the residency requirement. Just wondering, if a non-EU spouse of an Irish citizen doesn't want to go the Citizenship route (e.g. when country of citizenship doesn't allow dual citizenship), what options are available to them for more longer term residency stamps than Stamp 4? From what I've read the options for holders of St...

instead of the LTR spouses of irish nationals can also renew their stamp 4 every 5 years. therefore, they get an equivalent of LTR - stamp 4 for 5 years, which is done at GNIB, without the need to apply through LTR section. So you're saying that LTR is nothing more than the temporary Stamp 4 visa w...

I think you are right here. I will contact the equality authority and see what they think. even if they say no, data does not lie. It's pointless really as they can always hide behind their usual quote "certain cases may be more complex and require further checks and balances". How do you argue wit...
