please is there any advantage of paying by postal Order/Cheque over Debit card for postal ILR application?

Simply, why does HO still want them to bring a copy of their SA302 when they can verify and check from the data given to them by HMRC

NO.
They are not updating SA302 because it is not amendment but re-assessment.
You cannot amend after 12 months.

That is the problem.
HO only have access to the old one.
HMRC doesn't update SA302.
Too sad.
To be honest, it is HMRC that can help.

HMRC did not amend, they only re-assessed your claims.
