Re: Do I need to supply my original passport for a C visa application?

Thanks. I'm not in Ireland yet. I have accepted a job there, I'm just working my notice. Was hoping she could come right away, EEA visas are supposed to be accelerated.

I guess my wife will need to go to the local immigration office (VFS?) in China with her documentation.

Re: Do I need to supply my original passport for a C visa application?

Thank you. A certified copy sounds expensive but I'll have to do it. Also, 8 weeks? The guide book says maximum 4. And on that subject, I need to get my marriage certificate translated. I can get it done online with a "certified" PDF copy that they say is okay for US immigration, but I don't know if...

Do I need to supply my original passport for a C visa application?

I am a British citizen moving to Ireland for work. I want my Chinese wife to join me. We are applying for a C visa as the spouse of an EEA citizen. According to the INIS web site documents submitted must be originals: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Family+Members+of+EU_EEA+_Swiss+citizens The ...

Thanks, I'll ask the company about it. I was planning to stay in a hotel for a bit while I find somewhere, that seems like the best option.

Re: Housing for EU couple

Thank you max307, that's very helpful. I am moving to Ireland and obviously need somewhere to live from day one... The company I'm working for is just taking me on so I don't know about letters of recommendation, I can ask I suppose. I can show my confirmed offer of employment (not the original, tha...

Re: Housing for EU couple

Assuming you are okay with the cost, do you need letters of recommendation etc?

I don't have any former landlords (always lived with family) so it will be the first time renting. My wife does but the documents would be in Chinese.

Re: Join family visa

Are you applying under your article 10 treaty rights? Because that is supposed to be fast tracked.

You could submit a complaint to the EU ombudsman:

So basically he was refused on the grounds that you are not supposed to use the family visit visa to effectively live in the UK for extended periods, right? It sounds like that is what they are saying.

Re: EU citizen moving to Ireland next year, questions about bringing my non-EU partner with me

Hi. I think it's difficult if you have not lived together. Usually living together is the best way to prove the relationship is genuine. Getting married is a good option in that respect. Once you are married they should fast-track the application under EU rules. Otherwise you have to build up a case...

Re: German bringing non-EU spouse to Ireland

Sorry to jump in, but it sounds like the application might be before you (a German citizen) have travelled to Ireland yourself. Is that okay, can you apply in advance and just show them something like an employment acceptance letter and income in Germany?

Re: Moving to Ireland for Spouse Visa

I don't know about renting without a job, seems like unless you have substantial savings you might find it hard to get somewhere. I suppose 6 months rent up front on a 6 month lease might work. Better to find a job online, interview via Skype etc. That's what I'm doing. When Brexit happens no one kn...

Re: Moving to Ireland for Spouse Visa

You can look for information on the Surinder Singh route, but basically you need to exercise your EU treaty rights which means getting a job in Ireland. You then move there and apply for a visa under the EU system rather than the Irish one, which is much easier. You will need to establish that your ...

Thanks for this information, it's very useful.

It's awful the way they play games like this. It's people's lives. But still, just be glad it's not the UK Home Office!

Thanks so much Michael. Really. I've been having panic attacks over this and it feels like the Home Office is trying to break us up or put me six feet under. Just the added confidence that I can do this, I can move to Ireland and reunite my family is of great comfort.

Re: British Citizen living in Ireland - bring Non-EU Spouse to Ireland.

Thanks so much for that information, Michael. It's very useful and appreciated. Like you I plan to move to Ireland by myself first, so it's good to know that the process doesn't take too long. The INIS website seems to imply that you can apply for the visa before your EEA national spouse has actuall...

Re: "Durable relationship" without living together

I've taken legal advice and basically it's easier, if a lot more expensive, for me to just go to China and marry her there. Then we are on the fast track and should be okay.

Re: Marriage

I've been trying to do this myself, and honestly it is easier to go to Japan and get married.

To get married in Japan you need to get documents proving you are allowed to marry (not already married etc.) from the Romanian embassy. You don't need a visa to visit Japan.

Re: "Durable relationship" without living together

Yes, about Ireland specifically. The intention is to move there, get a temporary visa under FoM/EEA rules and then get married before applying for a residency card.

Please move it to the correct place. Sorry for the hassle.

"Durable relationship" without living together

I'm looking to move to Ireland and exercise treaty rights. I'm not married to my partner yet. The Irish immigration site seems to imply that a "durable relationship" requires living together for some time, but we have not. I have visited many times but only shared a residence for a week or so. Other...

Re: Marriage visa refused, appeal?

Thanks for responding. This is a marriage visa, not a settlement one. We just want to get married, so it is a temporary visa. English skills are not a requirement. For clarity she does know my full name and where I am from, but because she does not speak English and was nervous at the interview she ...
