Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

Switzerland is a good example of what the UK will be like outside the EU. They are not allowed to sell most financial products into the EU because they don't follow EU rules. They tried to negotiate something, but the EU just said "sign our rules or go away". That may be the best outcome for us. The...

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

Being only a draft I would assume that the intent is to write a final text that includes DR. The bit about third country nationals with no prior lawful residence in a Member State is the most worrying part. It closes off a large part of the EEA route. It appears that you would have to find an EEA co...

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

Maybe the best result then would be for the UK to vote out, and the EU to ditch the proposals. Then I move to Scotland which becomes independent and re-joins the EU.

It's unfortunate when British citizens are forced out of their own country because of extreme xenophobia and lovely.

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

In some ways it might actually be better for people using the SS route for the UK to exit the EU, since it is unlikely that treaty rights would end immediately. If they did 2.5 million British citizens would be forced to return to the UK, many of them to claim benefits due to being retired or unempl...

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

I thought that the EU court had already ruled that even if the purpose of moving was to exercise your treaty rights, as long as you met the other criteria (3 months, centre of life) that was fine. In fact, the draft deal states: ‘In accordance with Union law, Member States are able to take action to...

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

It seems like the ban on non-EEA spouses who married inside the EEA wouldn't stand up to a challenge. It seems like it would unfairly disadvantage people who made the mistake of getting married in the EEA. People who could afford to would simply take a trip to some non-EEA country, probably their pa...

Re: Immigration Assistance Services - anyone tried them?

Ok, thanks. My fiancée is Chinese, living in Japan. I have a good job in the UK, but she is finding it hard to learn English (lessons are in Japanese) and she has visa problems. Long story short she overstayed her visa in Japan and has been waiting for a decision from the government for about six ye...

Re: Immigration Assistance Services - anyone tried them?

Looking into it more closely, I see these guys have the same content on their web site: http://khanassociates.org.uk/ireland-choice-instead-of-uk-spouse-visa/ Google Street View for IAS shows nothing, they don't seem to be at their stated address unless the Street View images are out of date. Pretty...

Re: Immigration Assistance Services - anyone tried them?

Thanks, I thought they sounded a bit funny.

Do you know of anyone who does this kind of assistance? With my health issues the whole process looks to be very stressful and difficult.

Immigration Assistance Services - anyone tried them?

Has anyone used these guys: http://www.immigration-assistance-services.co.uk/ They claim that they can "guarantee" a visa via the EEA route: http://www.immigration-assistance-services.co.uk/guaranteed-spouse-visa/ Seems a little bit too good to be true, but I would very much like to use a service li...
