Re: Bringing spouse over

To exercise treaty rights you either need to be working or show that you are self sufficient, i.e. you have enough money for yourself and your husband without relying on the state for benefits etc.

Re: Procedure for getting Burmese girlfriend settled in Ireland

Basically you need to move over there, for work or if you have sufficient savings and other income to be self sufficient. You can apply for a visitor visa for your GF before you go, as long as you have documentation showing you will exercise treaty rights (e.g. employment letter with start date etc....

Re: Contact INIS for questions

INIS are swamped at the moment and you won't get far by email. Weeks or months to reply, if they even bother since you don't have an application with them. What do you need to ask them? Basically you need to move over there, for work or if you have sufficient savings and other income to be self suff...

Re: Eu Treaty files waiting time - EU1 or EU1A

Got a confirmation letter today. Decision due by 12/05/2019.

They also asked for some documents I had already sent. They even listed them in the list of documents I had already sent. I'll send them again anyway.

Re: Eu Treaty files waiting time - EU1 or EU1A

I just emailed INIS. They sent an automated response stating that acknowledgement letters could take up to 12 weeks and current processing times are 10 months.

My understanding was that the EU rules require a decision in 6 months.

Re: Eu Treaty files waiting time - EU1 or EU1A

Application sent: 04/11/2018
Acknowledgement letter: Not received yet
Approval: Pending

I wrote to them about the lack of an acknowledgement letter, and got no response. I called them and was told it might take a few months to come and that the deadline for a decision was still six months.

Re: Appointment for status enquiry of EU1 application in dublin office

My wife is in a similar position, she applied at the start of November and hasn't had any formal acknowledgement. We know that they have the case in the system because they called us up to confirm her name (we used the Chinese name order but it's on the system under western order). We wrote to them ...

Re: Surrinder Singh Route

My understanding was that you need to wait for the Irish residency card because it's granted under treaty rights, which you can't exercise in the UK.

Re: GNIB appointments don't leave enough time to apply for EU1

As we are outside of Dublin we can actually use a Guarda station. I'm going to arrange the appointment on Sunday by phone.

Anyone thinking of coming to Ireland, avoid Dublin or at least book your GNIB appointment 2-3 months in advance!

GNIB appointments don't leave enough time to apply for EU1

My wife recently arrived in Ireland as the spouse of an EEA citizen. We are trying to get her a residency card via EU1, but for that you need a PPS number, and to get a PPS number you need a GNIB card. The earliest appointment for a GNIB card is in December, and it takes at least a week to come, and...

Non-EEQ spouse visa success

My wife's visa was granted a few days ago. Took 21 days from the time she went to the visa centre in China to them returning her passport with the visa attached. I'm not an expert by any means but thought I would share our story in case it was of help to anyone else. I am British, she is Chinese. We...

Perhaps you are right CR001. Can you please close/delete this thread. I thought it might be helpful to others but I don't really want a debate. Maybe when it's over I'll post a summary.

Thanks for wishing us good luck.

Re: Spouse of an EEA citizen diary

I am aware of that, but that isn't my intention. My salary in Ireland is much better than I can get in the UK for doing the same job, and there is much more opportunity to own a home instead of renting forever. Ireland is our new home now and I made that clear in the application. It's not some littl...

Please don't post such negative comments... This is stressfull enough as it is. I've taken legal advice on both the Irish/EEA and UK routes.

Re: Spouse of an EEA citizen diary

22/08/2018 application form and supporting documentation submitted in China.

My understanding is that the clock is now ticking, with a legal maximum of 4 weeks to process the application. Legal advice was that it can take longer, with cases pending in the high court :(

Spouse of an EEA citizen diary

My wife is Chinese, I am a UK citizen moving to Ireland for work. She will be applying under EEA treaty rights to join me, initially on a visitor (type C) visa and then with EEA stamps for permanent residency building towards eventually citizenship. I thought it would be helpful to keep a diary. I w...

Re: American dating an EU/EEA citizen. Can we both work and live in Ireland?

You could go to Denmark, live together and get married. Would only need to be for maybe six months. Having said that, my wife and I were married in May in China and have never had the opportunity to live together. We are applying for a visa as the spouse of an EEA citizen exercising treaty rights. T...

Re: Do I need to supply my original passport for a C visa application?

Thanks. I'm not in Ireland yet. I have accepted a job there, I'm just working my notice. Was hoping she could come right away, EEA visas are supposed to be accelerated.

I guess my wife will need to go to the local immigration office (VFS?) in China with her documentation.

Re: Do I need to supply my original passport for a C visa application?

Thank you. A certified copy sounds expensive but I'll have to do it. Also, 8 weeks? The guide book says maximum 4. And on that subject, I need to get my marriage certificate translated. I can get it done online with a "certified" PDF copy that they say is okay for US immigration, but I don't know if...

Do I need to supply my original passport for a C visa application?

I am a British citizen moving to Ireland for work. I want my Chinese wife to join me. We are applying for a C visa as the spouse of an EEA citizen. According to the INIS web site documents submitted must be originals: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Family+Members+of+EU_EEA+_Swiss+citizens The ...

Re: Housing for EU couple

Thank you max307, that's very helpful. I am moving to Ireland and obviously need somewhere to live from day one...
