Ask for 'Terry' or 'Lorna' they seem the most helpful.

Their boss is Orla Kelly, I have spoken to her also, she passed the instruction onto 'Terry' apparently its his job to send the passports back to their owners.

As for me, I called, wrote, faxed, e-mailed (HAH!)

We requested our passports and marriage certificate back about one month into the process - we got them back about 3 weeks after requesting them. They DO give them back. I know how you feel about the Honeymoon - we will have waited for nearly 8 months by the time we get to have ours. hang in there t...

The Justice department specified that it had to be a one year stamp 4 for the first entry. We can renew that locally in Cork for a three year stamp when the current one runs out. Travelling outside of Ireland is a nightmare. It seems to be nearly as difficult as getting the GNIB card in the first pl...

My wife is in the same situation - we have to drive over 125 miles to give the documnents in person to the relevant embassy for a 4 day trip for a wedding in Denmark.

They will only give a 4 day visa.

After about a year I expect that my wifes passport will be full :(

Process for Schengen Visa

Hi, My wife (Russian) has just received her residence permit in Ireland as the spouse of an EU citizen (British). We are looking to do quite a bit of travelling over the next year (the six months trapped in Ireland while her permit arrived took their toll). Can anyone tell me the quickest and easies...

Have the GNIB Card - Now Have New Problems

After six months waiting for the GNIB card, finally it arrived and with it, a stamp in the passport to stay for a further year. Now it seems the process of getting visas for the rest of Europe is raising its ugly head. My wife and I want to travel to Denmark for her sisters wedding in January and at...

Hi All, Today we got our registered letter from the Justice dept. We were waiting 5 months and 1 week from start to finish. The letter is one and a half pages of jargon that reads like they have declined the residence. However we took the letter to the GNIB in cork, and they confirmed that this was ...

I really hope for your sake, and anyone else who could be affected by this that the 'Justice' department dont take a further 5 months on reconsidering the application.

You sound relaxed about it - i would be spitting fire!

Delirio, I have a few questions, if you have time...... How did they inform you? Was there anything else with their notification? Where is your wife from? Did you call/write them during the process? Sorry for all the questions - I am going crazy with the wait for my wifes EU1. Congrats on getting yo...

My wife and I applied in the middle of June so we should be hearing back in less than a month.

This is after countless letters, faxes, phone calls. I will post more when our answer is due.

More interesting findings - it seems that my wife cannot apply for an Irish driving licence as this also requires a PPS number.

So thats:

Cannot work
Cannot travel
Cannot vote
Cannot drive
Cannot get bank account

Oh god, im working up a head of steam right now!

As far as I can see from the Department of Social and Family Affairs website, you cannot obtain a PPS number to work in Ireland without first getting your Green Card. So my wife must live in Ireland for six months without the ability to work? This is in contrast to what I have read elsewhere on this...

As I understand it - the EU1 form is for spouses of EU citizens when they initially come to Ireland (or other EU country). It allows you to get the residency permit from the GNIB. Once the EU1 form is accepted, I understand that you must re-register with the GNIB each year, although from my dealings...

UK Citizen resident in Ireland with Russian Wife - help :(

My wife and I got married in Russia (she is a Russian Citizen - I am British) and received a single entry visa to fly back to Ireland. I have been living in Ireland for 13 years, have a business here, and employ a number of Irish workers. We have submitted an EU1 form, and today I was told that this...

I am in a similar situation. My wife and I got married in Russia (she is a Russian Citizen - I am British) and received a single entry visa to fly back to Ireland. We have submitted an EU1 form, and today I was told that this WILL take six months to process. Does anyone know if the system in other E...
