jes2jes The exisiting argument is not for refugees. Refugees is Legal NOT illegal. The argument is even help the genuine refugees because the place could be substituted to Genuine Refugees. What do you think. Adindas As you suggest, an amnesty would clearly not help genuine refugees or genuine asyl...

Re: Change of Citizenship and UK Employment

If you were him would you give up UK citizenship for Singapore nationality? If you look at it logically (not that everyone does), then I think most people would say that a British citizen passport + Singapore permanent residence keeps more options open than being solely a Singapore citizen. Another...

Amnesty

One of the problems with a global amnesty is the message it gives out: "come to the UK - if you can dodge the system long enough, then you'll be fine". It also really wouldn't be fair to those people who try to do things the right way (which seems to be most people who use this website, for example)...

Also, in Romania according to the law when you get employed somewhere you have to do some medical exams (just a formality really). Do you have to do that in UK? Not as a general rule, although individual employers/companies can set their own requirements in this regard to some extent. However, if t...

Re: Change of Citizenship and UK Employment

The question is would he need a UK work permit to continue working with the same company in Singapore? If yes, does he need to come to the UK to apply for that? When exactly can he apply - after getting Singapore passport or even before that - since he knows when he would get his nationality change...

Re: Hi Stupid questions but i need help.

Question 3. In section 9 where it askes you to state how many of each document you included should, in the 'other' section i list off every bit of paper (ex: wage slips, letters from renters, passport photos ect) that I add with the application form? I would list them all, with numbers (e.g. 2 lett...

My work partner had to fly to Newcastle from London he said he got checked out. Security check maybe, but there is no immigration control on domestic United Kingdom flights. That's right. And certainly until recently there was no immigration control on flights between the United Kingdom and the Rep...

If you get into Ireland by train or road they may not check or stamp but they will definitely check and stamp on yr passport if u fly to Dublin. and same when you come back to UK, no check when you leave here though. Most EU countries still stamp but many are not strict if you do or do not do a lan...

They will defiantly ask to see your passport when you leave and re-enter the UK. I tried it 2 weeks ago. You will not get on that eurotrain without showing your passport ! Whether they stamp it or not I am not sure. Most countries in the EU no longer put stamps in passports. Generally they should’n...

No, it won't be stamped because you won't go through passport control. (Sometimes passports are looked at on arrival in Ireland, but I doubt that they will stamp it.) In reality, I don't think that you are likely to face problems on this account, however. How are you travelling to Ireland? Although ...

i dont' want to contact the irish embassy until the solicitor has seen him and knows how to proceed. i dont want to do the wrong thing. I think you are making a mistake in not contacting the Irish embassy. In all fairness to them, they can't do anything at all if they don't know that the situation ...

It is within the powers of the British government to deport an Irish citizen - Irish citizens do not have the right of abode in the UK. It is also within the government's powers not to allow an Irish citizen to enter the country. In practice it is difficult of course to enforce the non-entry of an I...

Yes I suppose I could just do that, and show the one with ILR when I return. Though, passport B is a Commonwealth country, so if I had a IDR in that one, I could vote here. ... Yes, as noted above, it doesn't matter which of your passports contains evidence of your permission to be in the UK - as y...

If you're just visiting a country in the EU (other than Poland) as a tourist or short-term visitor not intending to work, then it doesn't matter - you can use your US passport if you wish. I don't know whether Poland insists that its own citizens use a Polish passport to enter Poland - many countrie...

Re: husband being detained with a view to deportation soon!

i did mention to him maybe he shouldn't have reapplied for an algerian passport when it ran out, because if he wasn't algerian maybe they couldn't deport him there - does anyone know just out of interest? I don't think that this would have made any difference technically, because possession of a pa...

Yes, that's right. You should apply for a British passport. Technically, indeed, a British citizen is not entitled to a UK visa in a non-British passport, although as you are a British citizen by descent your citizenship status might not be obvious if you did apply for a student visa. (The only exce...
