Re: T2G to ILR contract job, "Still required..." question

If instead of end date, the letter says that you are still required for the job in future, then it should work. I remember reading a post from someone here where they had a wording similar to "required in the future" and the person got his ILR. Can you convince your HR to only mention that you are s...

Re: Tier 2 visa refusal when switching employer

Did you apply for the Tier 2 visa yourself? You must have had a copy of the Certificate of Sponsorship given to you when you applied, and in that letter, it should detail the type of job with the SOC code. The caseworker can only assume that you have the SOC code for which your sponsor applied (and ...

Re: Length of cos 3 years and tier 2 visa approved for 1 yea

You can be on a Tier 2 visa for a maximum of 6 years in UK under current laws. You can only get Tier 2 visa until 31st December 2019, so the AR should work in your favour.

Re: Should I apply for ILR now or in Sep 2018?

The other thing is, there is always some notice before very drastic rule changes.. It is a tough choice but if I were you, I might just continue on Tier 2 while keeping a close eye on any rule changes (assuming you have no intention of changing your employer and are happy with the current job).. And...

Re: Reagrding going on leave for a month, Tier 2 General

I had a similar understanding as mentioned by "ShrutiBlue". In my case, it was provided by the immigration office of the organization where I work. It is a very large organization and have a separate office for dealing with Tier2/Tier 5 migrants.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, and being on paid leave does not mean that you have "ceased" working for the employer..Perhaps some of the more experienced members here can clarify this for me please?

overseas for more than a month on Tier 2

Dear all, I wanted to check the rules regarding travelling abroad for vacations whilst on Tier 2, for over a month. I plan to travel to my home country for around 35 days in December/January and they will be part of my annual leave. According to the Tier 2 guidance: 231.The UK, Channel Islands, Isle...

Re: Tier 2 General Dependent Visa holder- Employment status

Your company doesn't need to know your long term family goals..You can get a dependant visa and then later proceed with whatever is in the best interest of your family. Your company should ideally have no concern whether you live with your partner, or whether your partner has gone abroad etc. for so...

Re: Tier 2 3 years or more than 3 years

So there is an expiry date of the COS itself (3 months from issue date), and this is the date by which you should use the COS and apply for visa. This would be given under "Certificate of sponsorship status". In addition to that, there is a section called "Work Dates" and in there, you should have a...

Re: Tier 2 3 years or more than 3 years

The length is already decided by your CoS..Find the expiry date of your COS, and that should tell you if you need to apply for more than 3 years or less than 3.

Re: Tier 2 General Dependent Visa holder- Employment status

There is no restriction for Tier 2 dependant partner to stay in the UK, or to carry on with a job in another country.. It is still much better to have a tier 2 dependant partner visa (as opposed to a visitor visa) even if for the time being, the dependant is undertaking a job in a different country ...

Re: Tier 2 General and Dependent (Switching after ILR)

If you instead continue to extend your Tier 2 visa, and your husband stays as your dependant, then both you and your husband would qualify for ILR after you spending 5 years on Tier 2 and him spending 5 years as your PBS dependant (assuming all other conditions are met)

I have had tier 2 visa issued on my old passport and then I rrenewed it. I have subsequently travelled abroad and entered UK again with only my BRP and the new passport. I did not have to carry my old passport. It is common sense that passports do expire and I have not seen any guidance stating you ...

Re: Settlement on Tier 2 General Visa

There is no restriction on switching from one sponsor to another provided all other conditions are met. For ILR, if you satisfy all other conditions, then it is perfectly OK to have worked for more than one sponsor over the course of the 5 years qualifying period on Tier 2.

Re: Renting a new home while passport at Home Office

I have rented a property from a letting agency, with showing my driving licence. Because I am a Tier 2 migrant, I do understand the rules better than a lot of those who don't go through these visa issues, and while there is a law to check for right to live, it is very poorly implemented at the momen...

Re: Career Break - NHS to Postdoc

won't the issue of pre-selection come into play for RLMT once the return to NHS is made ? Others can advise but I think it can get tricky. After your postdoc, you will be applying again to the NHS job, and the NHS will have to advertise the post, and then prove that you were the best candidate among...

Re: Replacement BRP from outside UK

I have not gone through this issue myself but just common sense dictates that it should have been a new vignette if you have not yet travelled to the UK. The reason is that even if a new BRP is issued and sent to a designated post office inside UK, you will still need to show your passport (which wi...
