Re: Place of birth query

Not something we see here regularly. If you want this corrected then you need to explain all the circumstances, and answer every question. Attach documents which support your statement. Best not to pre-judge how your application might be viewed. Stick with the facts - on which a decision will be mad...

Re: ILR DV 3 Years Married/UK - Can I Apply Immediatly

I have just received my ILR DV last month which is SET (DV) and I have been married to a British for 3 years and living in the UK for 3 years. Can I apply for British Citizenship immediately? We are not officially divorced yet as we are still legally married. If you comply will all requirements the...

Re: Question regarding admit status

I doubt a border official (or border system) can just change resident status to visitor status.
In any case son has the evidence in his passport, stamp and BRP#.
Don't think there's an issue.

Re: Passport Supporting Documents Return Issues

I would say "congratulations" but it won't feel like that after all you have been through. But at least your journey is complete now. Royal Mail service performance is variable, even with supposedly secure forms of deliver. My own recent experience with Special Delivery - a parcel worth £200 disappe...

Re: health surcharge & Referee

Were you ever asked to pay IHS for child? If not then child wasn't liable to pay IHS.
It's a compulsory charge for visa applicants - you can't pay it voluntarily. Others may be able to point to a rule, if there's one.

Re: health surcharge for mn1

There's no requirement for MN1 to have any kind of "health surcharge", I believe you mean IHS - that's only for visa holders. You will need to arrange a private insurance policy for your child until she has been registered as British, this is not part of IHS or mandated for MN1 or for nationality ap...

And IHS term cannot be chosen, it’s due for the term of the visa, which of course is not required for a UK born child.

Of interest to German members of this forum: The Federal President has signed the law enacting the changes to the German Citizenship Law and it was published officially on 26 March 2024 in the Federal Law Gazette. https://www.recht.bund.de/bgbl/1/2024/104/VO.html (in German only). Naturalisation is not an immigration application, there's no dependent concept in citizenship.
All applications are assessed individually.

Re: Over 90 days in last 12 months, is there discretion?

These are questions you don't have to answer, if there's nothing you wish to raise the "n/a" would be sufficient, or refer to your covering note. Agreed they are a bit confusing. There are no templates for covering letters as they are not required, but you are free to add one with your documents. Ad...

Re: Couple of questions.

Hello, Just a couple of questions: does an applicant's passport need to be valid for a certain time when applying for naturalization? What if a passport is expiring in a month, for example? There's no validity requirement for passports - expiry during process is not an issue. The other question is:...

Re: Travelling before ceremony

Until you have attended the ceremony you are still under ILR and use your BRP to prove it - you are only British after the ceremony. No issue with immigration. Suggest you contact your council ASAP and ask to book around your hols - they may also offer private ceremonies (for a fee) if dates are dif...

Re: GHIC - Which name to use?

Not something governed by UK immigration rules, but in the event you have to seek medical help in an EU country you probably will be asked to show your passport, in addition to the GHIC card. Your other documents are unlikely to be accepted as ID. The NHS Issuing Office may also ask for a copy of yo...

Re: EU2 or WABC- British citizen EU treaty rights in Ireland post brexit

Can't really answer from the Irish perspective ... but as far as I know British citizens are covered by the Common Travel Area (CTA) provisions, they didn't have a need to exercise EU Treaty Rights, either before or after brexit. Certainly for naturalisation they need to satisfy the residency requir...

Civil penalties can be given for all kind as issues - as explained already they are not criminal offences, not even for late tax penalties. They are a fact of life, just like paying too little or too much tax at times. If you are evading tax that's a criminal offence and you are likely facing court ...
