Yes, I heard from another source that Kumar had been living illegally in Belgium and the UK, so the High Court conveniently used the Akrich case to decide on his application. That's so unfair to the rest of us who have not broken any laws and who are following the law to the letter. It's a lost caus...

Gee whiz stmani you nearly gave me a heart attack :) Thank goodness it's not because your mate was an EU spouse. Sorry that they were denied though.

Static, apologies, obviously confusing you with the OP here. My husband is British so that won't be necessary. The only way we can immigrate to the UK is if I go back to SA to get either the D-spouse visa or the EU family permit and I am not able to do that. Both of us are highly skilled IT profess...

The only way we can immigrate to the UK is if I go back to SA to get either the D-spouse visa or the EU family permit and I am not able to do that. The term "D-spouse visa" means nothing to me, and given that your husband is British you cannot apply for an EU Family Permit, well not to live in the ...

If people don't believe us... here are some photographs to show what SA looks like now... Don't get me wrong, I am not disagreeing with you, but isn't the problem that in many locations it is all too easy to take pics of places that used to be nice, and now are run down. I could certainly do that h...

Re: Out of sight...

Static, Thank you for confirming the truth about the state of affairs here. As this is not the platform for debating the issue, I did not want to elaborate any further when it was apparent that all the facts are not generally known to rest of the world. You should just see the disbelief on the face...

joesoap.. that must have been a while ago. Things have drastically changed in SA recently. I haven't been there since last year July but we also fled for the very reasons that Splodge mentioned. Have you seen what's going on in the news with the hospitals and schools? It was bad a year ago and seems...

Do you really think they will have an article in the Times? I haven't seen anything about the case until up to this point. Actually, all of the information I know now, I learned from this forum or from calling the DOJ or immigration council. :? I agree. I don't think the non EU nationals married to...

Ok, obviously I'm a newbie at all of this... so please forgive me by asking fairly idiotic questions! Am I right in my assumption that what they are trying to do with this case is to remove the "previous EU state residency" clause from the immigration laws? Is that what it's about? I swear I will h...

Well here's the thing... my husband works in policy and fraud detection, but he does not have any IT qualifications. So it might be difficult for him to find a job in the IT market. I wish I knew if my status as a member of the EU will impact badly on a work permit application. If we go through the...

I don't want to dent anyones hopes, but remember that you need a formal job offer, and that the employer needs to support the Work Permit application. Unfortunately a lot of companies are not prepared at all to go through this. Very often as soon as companies hear the word work permit they are not ...

I called the DETE months ago about this. From what the guy said, this work permit for those waiting on an EU1 is merely a formality: 1. There is NO FEE. Do not let them convince you to pay anything, for either you or the employer. 2. There is NO MARKET TEST. There is no need for the employer to pro...
