It happened to me couple of years ago for my student visa. They came to my house only once and I was not home, so without leaving any note, they returned it to HO. Call HO and ask for a tracking number and call the post office to make sure it was not delivered it yet.
Do you think is it possible to get a result without contacting MP.
In my opinion, no check or complex case will take this long! I suppose our applications is under a pile of new ones.

I suggest you just ring your local MPs office and discuss it on the phone with their staff. That is what I did and it became very clear during the call that MPs get a lot of calls from people with immigration issues.
