I just phoned the Ukvi contact centre to get an update for my application status but they said “they can’t give any information over the phone, you need to send a letter to your case worker team and ask for an update”
Has anyone same experience ?

Just VO or market research couldn’t be reasone of refusal. It very depends to Nature of the business. (You can’t have a Resturant business with VO.)
