You need to cover 5 years, it doesn't matter what the period is. if you can cover 10 years just use this period.

I read on your posts the "confirmation" email received from HO. Do you mean the email from HO saying that they have received your application?

Do you normally get anything from HO between this email and the Biometrics later?

Quick update.. My friend had her visa refused for the following reasons. - She was on Tier5 MOB and they questioned why they didn't study at the time. (she actually did study english for 3 months and wanted to do more, but she didn't provide the document...) - They also say the english course is not...

Yes, it is not new. For Tier4 visa they say 1 week if 6 months, or 30 days if 6 months or more. But for short-term students this is very confusing, there is no information anywhere.
