Re: LIUK Pass Notification Letter 2010

Hi All, Can anyone please clarify this: 1. Does the date of passing LIUK matter? I appeared and passed LIUK in July 2010 as I was unclear when I would be eligible for ILR. And I apply for ILR in July 2012. Do I need to do it afresh so it is from 2012? No there is no expiry on LIUK test. You should ...

On a funny note, they must be having an IT ISSUE, as it took them more than a month to acknowledge (media pressure of course) the problem with their system.

First one.
Althout they say that by that time they intend to operate normal service, in case of some problem, you can always use backup second appointment.

Service disruption at public enquiry offices - UKBA PEOs

Finally they seem to be acknowledging their acts, after media picked up the story of yesterday's disaster. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/newsarticles/2012/may/12-biometric-peo 04 May 2012 Our public enquiry offices (PEOs) have been experiencing disruption due to IT problems in April ...

Yes, try to take photocopies of all Linkers suggested.
I carried two files one for originals and another for photocopies, arranged in the same order.

Don't think any new appointments will be released for next couple of weeks. as the capcacity they have are all bookedup upto 42 days in advance.

You have to just keep trying as if someone cancels any appointment that slot will be re-available for someone else to book.

Of course, why would they bother, for them it is just another day!!! And it is hardy surprising that there is no news of any IT ISSUE on UKBA's own website, where as it is in all mainstream media. Trying to find out a source for this new snippet http://www.itv.com/news/story/2012-05-03/uk-border-age...

Of course not. I do not work in "drama" and cannot "act" to prove UKBA staff that if you donot provide the alternate appointment it is end of the world for me  I didn't say a single word to the case worker, as they had already announed that they will issue refund and one has to re-book appoint...

I did see at least 2 people were given alternate appointment. Of course everyone has "urgency" as for ILR you can apply only 28 days before your 5 year stay and for many people that will also be the visa expiry date, so realistically you cannot get another appointment if you go through the system ag...

I was at Croydon and was "sent back" due to IT Issue. They gave some people who had "genuine" urgency another appointment in next few days may be from "some special availability" (read from the slots which were made available by sending cancellation text/emails to others). Hopefully something will g...

Hi everyone, just want to clarify something. My visa expires on June 19, 2012. I entered on July 1, so technically I have time to apply counting 28 days from 1 of July. For personal reasons I'd prefer to apply earlier, in May. Could I do that? Count from 19 June instead of 1 July? Many thanks. If y...

I think that is just a miss on the part of CW. Every case worker deals with a varied category of applicant i.e. Tier-1 extension, ILR etc. everyday; so even though maintenance is not a requirement, most other things (except LiUK) are quite similar for Tier-1 extension (which has maintenance fund req...

Congrats on your ILR LankanFunkin . Unlike Tier-1 (Gen), there is no maintenance funds requirement for ILR. I am sure the case worker would have realised this after you questioned him/her about it. I have seen so many cases where people were in over draft and still succeeded in ILR. It’s always nic...

If your accountant is handling payroll for you, he/she is legally obliged to submit the payroll details (End of Year Accounts) to HMRC by 19th May.
surely they should have all the records about your salary details etc.
Just press him/her a bit more.

Different people you speak to at UKBA will give you different answer (may be due to lack or training or whatever). But as timesofindia pointed out, according to modernised guidance, if you entered UK within 90 days of Entry Clearance then you can apply upto 28 days before the 5th Anniversary of EC.

If you still have time for your ILR application, simplest thing to do is retake the LiUK test and make sure all the details are correct this time.
Both of US took the same exam twice

Not trying to high jack this thread but a broader question.
Do we know what is allowed and what is not; to be taken inside the building?

e.g. Can I take Ipad, Mobile Phones (on silent mode of course), Portable battery charger (external), kids colouring books, colours etc in the building?
