Your lawyers have screwed up, this is not your fault. Advise them that you wish to appeal the decision. Victoria I am sorry , but I do not agree entirely with you there. When you sign the form declaring that everyting that you have put down is the truth and then turns out to be a lie, I do not see ...

If you wish to switch from a student visa to a work permit then you must have a valid student visa and you must have completed the course for which that visa was granted. As you have not finished the course, you cannot switch. Victoria, are you sure about that? Where can I find the relevant rules t...

Since, it was issued free of charge, you would have been considered under the EU free movement agreement even though unmarried partners, back then, were strictly to be considered under UK immigration laws. JAJ's suggestion could be well worth a try and you could try and make an application with the ...

If they did not give you a letter, it should still be alright as they will have record of having given you ILR in their database. I would still think it to be a good idea if you were to make a couple of copies of the ILR vignette and stash it in different locations. If they asked you to make a reque...

I don't know either. Maybe it is not. It might just be my prejudiced opinion about the usual occupants of a council house that made me feel like they are a burden.

28 days. Assuming that there is no gap between the 2 visas As per as the topic, I was responding to the employement breaks and not the visa breaks. Many thanks gentlemens but what if the gap is more than 28 days? Does it stop the clock? While some amount of discretion can be exercised, it usually s...

And what would happen if she returned to Brazil - 'lost' her passport (and therefore all evidence of ever being in UK) applied for a new passport and then returned to UK - I guess she would get another 6 months VV? The terrible thing about that ploy is that almost everyone with half a brain and wan...

No need for the original passport of your fiance. A certified copy will do.

On a side note- he is on the waiting list for council house? Is it really smart to show that once the visa is granted, you both intend to be a drain on the public finds?

Paperpusher, I can see your point but I do hope that a postal application would make make it. I think it can be argued either way. Many thanks for the input. vinny, having stayed for so long on the UK route, it would not be a great move to switch to the EU route as it will reset the ILR clock which ...

Do you think I can stand a better chance if I hire a solicitor to represent me at the home office? Do you think it can be done in a week or two? There is a chance that a solicitor might be of help in representing you in the Home Office(HO), but I doubt that you will find one competent enough. But i...

Using your own numbering to answer:- 1) Your case could have been deemed by the PEO to be a bit too complicated to be done in person. Such cases are refused even if you have an appointment and could have different result if you were to apply by post. 2) That makes absolutely no sense at all. Why did...

Using your own numbering to answer:- Once you get married, she will have to apply for a spouse visa from the British embassy in her home country and then come back on it. There is no way she can switch to one in the UK without leaving as she is on a visit visa. Again, same as above. No-switching is ...

plumas4u, this is a very delicate situation. If you do not have a valid visa to show to the airlines, how do you expect them to let your wife board the plane to the UK ?

Also, why did she not apply for the PR using the EEA4 if you have already been here for 5 years?
