Thank you - I honestly feel the caseworker was at fault here. It clearly states that if I send in my husband's document certifying permanent residency I can pass on to the next section, and do not have to send in proof that he is exercising his treaty rights. A friend of mine experience the same as you. They first answer EEA national before NON EEA even if it's on same application.

Yes you are ok to travel within the schengen countries after your first trip to Spain. BUT return on 22 of December is not advisable.....incase your flight is cancelled.....save yourself that stress
