You need to be very careful. If they think that she is wanting to settle int he UK then they will refuse her, and iuf she wants to come over only 6 weeks after she left then they may well suspect this, especially if she intends to stay for the whole six months. Also, if she says she is coming to hel...

Many people who work on the front line in consulates do not know the rules. Worrying, but true.

As I am sure you know (but for the benefit of others who may not) If your application is not straight forward then you must apply by post. In person applications are only for straight forward applications.

If the job bears no relevance to your qualifications then getting a work permit will be tricky. Obviously if you have been working full time then you won't have just graduated, so you are going to have to return home to apply for entry clearance if the work permit is approved. This will be tricky as...

The problem with this situation is that it's not up to the Home Office to prove that the student was breaking the law, it is up to the student to prove that he wasn't. I have known students be refused extensions because they have submitted payslips which are deemed 'too high'. For example, a guy who...

THEORETICALLY a residents permit for one member state should be valid for travel to any other member state...that's an EU regulation. However, as it is a regulation, not a law, the UK have the power to ignore this...which they do. It might be that a UK Embassy in another EU country would be willing ...

Your solicitor will know best about the appeal, but this is typical of refusals which are being issued at the moment.

The only question which needs to be answered is whether or not the marriage is legal in the UK. If it was purely a religious ceremony, then you must apply for the fiancee visa, but you should certainly tell them that you have undergone a religious ceremony. If your marriage was a legal as well as re...

I don't come here often, but thought I'd chip in. The problem with HSMP applications at the moment is that not all of the little nuances of the documentation are featured on the guidelines. For example, if you get paid in cash, even if you get a payslip, if the name of the employer isn't on the bank...

I think all these problem happen due to over commercialization and the extremely competitive strategy applied by similar service providers like yours making use of the flexibility around the UK immigration to target a potentially huge market - especially HSMP seekers. just thoughts ! Interesting th...

I seem to have caused offence. I apologise for that. But to defame someone is something which I am sure no one on this site would put up with, and I know for sure that the owners of this particular board never put up with it! I have said my piece now and will refrain from further comment on this. Vi...

However, criticisms of this nature pre-empting an OISC investigation are tantamount to defamation. Please edit your post to remove this. This is the UK, not America! As far as I know we still have freedom of expression in this country... Many thanks for removing these comments. I am a supporter of ...

Rajeev Please do complain to OISC if you wish. The situation has been explained to you, and I am confident that OISC will clear us of misadvising or of acting unprofessionally. I think you are on a winner.

As far as I can see, the application is not withdrawn by you leaving the country, only by you withdrawing the passport from the Home Office. If you have been given that info by the IO at your port of entry, I would take that as good advice.

Good luck!

Do you have a story to tell?

I am writing an overview of the immigration system, and I need some case studies. I know that there are many people here who have stories of problems with their applications, and if you feel that that your problem was due to bad advice from a government employee, an unfair or incorrect decision by a...
