Your wife should know all the answers. Since she is already settled here she should know how to obtain NI number and how to register with NHS, and how to apply for pre-settled status (since she has already done that?).

@zwfx, nothing will happen. My permit expired long before I applied for a residence card. I had no issues. (Your wife might have trouble finding work)
