Switching from home country and break of residence

I see that in many situations, to switch visa, it's necessary to go back home, apply from there then return on the new status/route.

Question: does this break the continuous residency for the purpose of applying for a permanent residence later?

Probably best if you use someone actually living in UK..
And pays taxes in the UK.

Putting money in an account is not per se a job creation in the UK.

He also has a sister and brother with French nationality. Can his siblings help him move to France? You can move to France on your own as an EEA citizen before 31st October at least. Once there, you can work out with him the way forward. Long shot really. Because French authorities want to see her ...

I hope someone can clarify this detail for you but you don't want the Home Office case worker to see that gap in the documentation and starts thinking that he might have been abroad or something. It's not a big deal to give the proof even if the company went bust. HMRC can still provide records. It ...

Hello I know we are in an immigration forum but I always like to see the entire picture. Anyway, it's not possible to dissociate immigration issues from the whole context where they happen. You are 21 and surrounded by the wrong crowd. A "solicitor" who explain to you that you can make a baby for th...

It's always possible to contact a previous employer and ask for a letter. They have templates for that and these letters are powerful tools that the person was working in the company during the stated period.

Re: Non-EU citizen(Indian) with Germany with German Citizen

I spent 10 years in Germany. What I can tell you is that you will find that local authorities have more freedom in terms of immigration. In the UK we have a central authority that decides about immigration. If Germany, each city has an office and the rules seem slightly different from place to anoth...

Any advice on countries where we would be able to elope in the next month would be much appreciated as we do not want to lose eachother. USA might fit the bill... New York? Vegas? I don't see how making a Gift Aid donation would affect your immigration status. There is no relationship between your visa and this donation. Sometimes I help a friend who works for a charity. He process all duly completed envelopes (with the name and the address of the donor) and HMRC accepts or r...

Re: Advice on country for a quick marriage

Morning Sadly there is no concept of quick marriage in the UK. From this link: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/family/living-together-marriage-and-civil-partnership/getting-married/ In England and Wales, 28 days notice must be given to the Register Office before the marriage can take place. Both p...

Re: Help needed - Fathers application for settled status

This is NOT correct or accurate information. Please do not offer confusing advice if you are not sure of the facts or rules. PR or ILR under the UK immigration route ALL require 5 years residence. I have been told 3 years just a few days ago in this forum. So I got myself confused then. When it's c...

Don't travel with it if the name is wrong. Call them.

Contact the HM Passport Office:

Usually they pick-up the phone quickly. Every time I called them, I got someone within 2 minutes and they are very helpful.

Re: Help needed - Fathers application for settled status

When you marry a British citizen, you can get a residence on that basis then you can apply for British citizenship after 3 years. However, this route never made much sense for EEA nationals. That's why your parents probably never considered it. An EEA national can easily obtain residence in the UK b...

Apparently he got a YES. So the Parliament is suspended and we are heading to a no-deal Brexit unless the EU accepts to compromise.

I paid for both recently for my wife and got confused. LIUK is £50 and the English test is more expensive at £150.

Sorry for that.

Re: Help needed - Fathers application for settled status

British routes are complex, expensive and, in many cases, doomed for failure. So anytime you have the option EEA/British route, just go EEA. As his wife passed away, your father cannot use the spouse route. The fact that he has assets, family and is a regular visitor to the UK doesn't open any route...

Re: Requesting a return of the EEA sponsor's passport

Apply to get your passport and even hers if needed. The Home Office won't take exception and this doesn't harm the application. They are used to people requesting their IDs because they need them to travel or work. So it's a routine thing for them really.
