Re: Irish Citizenship application - Traffic offences

samach is right. You should inform them that you should have said yes to question 11.1. A brief letter of remorse also helps. We barely see anyone getting rejected due to a traffic offence (other than those serious ones like excessive speeding and DUI). You can reach out to them once you get an appl...

Re: Short stay C visa for non EU/UK spouse

DFA does not have any saying in visa outcomes. DFA does not handle your visa applications at all. A typical short-term visitor visa is usually approved within a few days and no more than 3 weeks. However, it can vary significantly depending on the specifics of the application. How much savings do yo...

Gardai does not have any saying in how PPS works. That’s for Revenue. And you are not required to change nationality with Revenue in the first place.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

HI All I am looking for a bit of advice, having completed the online application I will posting my documents on Tuesday. I am sending my UK passport (is this wise - I don't need it until I get my Irish passport). Also who is recommended to post it with from the UK? I have heard there are issues wit...

Re: Applying for Passport after Citizenship Ceremony but before receiving Naturalisation Certificate

As CR001 has pointed out, that is a very clear instruction.

Gardai will not sign your application unless you bring the original certificate with you. An approval letter or anything else will not suffice.

Re: Passport Card Travel

If you use your non-EU passport to check in for the flight from the US to the UK, you must present that passport to the UK immigration. You can present both the non-EU passport and the Irish passport card so that you can be admitted more quickly. If you need a visa to travel to the UK on your non-EU...

Hi, If I travel to the USA with a NON-EU passport and when arriving at LHR - Can I show my Irish passport card to UK border control - Is this ok? Does EU gates accept Irish passport card for entry/exit thou?
All EU countries accept Irish passport cards.

I guess your question is whether passport cards are accepted at eGates? No. Holders of national ID cards (passport cards included) cannot use the eGates in most if not all countries.

Re: Passport Card Travel

I have used my passport card to travel around the UK and EU. Must have been at least 30-40 trips in the last few years. I have never been questioned by border staff, but airline staff can sometimes be annoying (and ignorant), so just be prepared to argue your way and that’s about it.

Re: Passport Card Travel

Passport card is accepted but there are plenty of ignorant staff who would give you a hard time when travelling with it. I have been asked to produce a passport book when I presented the passport card when I travelled from Finland and Netherlands to Ireland in recent years. This January it took the ...

Re: Spose of British national

We cannot advise you how the UK government would act here, but as Ticktack mentioned above, it is quite likely that he is placed on a 10-year ban, as per standard. The Irish and British governments share immigration data, so the fact that he was an overstayer and absconder in the UK may impact his s...

1-We applied for our first renewal last august (irp was valid til October, matching the CSEP issue date) and to my surprise, the new expiry dates don't match (my spouse was given full year til oct 23, while mine now expires 1 year from renewal application on Aug 23). I'm worried being out of sync i...

Re: De facto partner - Living together for less than 2 years

There is no marriage visa. If you have a valid permission to live here, you just need to attend an interview to get married and get your certificate. Once you are married, you can switch your permission to Stamp 4 right away. There is no waiting period. The time required to process the application i...

Different courses have different entry score requirements and usually have a different number of international students, and colleges will have to report to the immigration authority in terms of the number of international students in each course. Therefore, it is much more complex than a simple ‘sw...

Great news that your documents have arrived. I have always tried to avoid using three where possible. UPS for example isn’t a lot more expensive for my usual routes between Ireland and the UK. I do understand that in certain cases (like the passport application) UPS may not accept PO Box destination...

Whether you need to physically bring documents to an immigration office, or to use the online renewal platform, solely depends where you live. If you live in Dublin, you must use the online renewal platform.

This is an immigration forum so probably isn’t the best place to discuss this. The likes of Boards.ie and Reddit would be more suitable. Each institution sets out their own criteria, but yes most will require you to be a resident for at least 6-12 months, or even more. They usually require you to ha...

What are you banned of? Making a new naturalisation application within 5 years, or travelling to Ireland within 5 years? The ban would be very specific. If it says you are banned for making a new naturalisation application, that ban will stay regardless of your citizenship status. If the ban says yo...

Unless you have imminent travel plans, I would advise that you wait for another month. Once you go to the police station and report your documents as lost, there is no way back. Even if your documents do arrive in the end, they won’t be valid documents. As I said, I have at least 10 parcels last yea...

Yes a visa is required. Only those who have an EU country issued residence permit under EU Treaty Rights can travel without a visa. UK is not an EU country, and even if it is, he is not a resident in the UK so he wouldn’t have qualified anyway.

A month in Royal Mail is well within the normal timeframe. They are simply that bad. Never have I ever seen a postal service as slow as them. There are numerous people here who had mentioned their documents were held up by Royal Mail for over 20 days. Last year I sent around 20 parcels to the UK and...
