Re: What is meant by a "Doctor's letter"?

It is one of the inferred requirement that many non-EU nationals ignored. Most of the residence permissions require you to have a private medical insurance. Most insurance companies require you to be registered with a GP. Any health related services (e.g. prescription drugs, taking a vaccine, making...

Re: 3 month a year absence

You are still required to report your travel details to INIS if you intend to travel for more than 6 weeks per annum after your application. It is explicitly pointed out on the citizenship webpage . If you are outside the State for longer than 6 weeks after you submit your application, you must noti...

Re: Suspicious Call

Yeah my partner used to get a lot of these mandarin automated call scammers claiming they are from An Post, Chinese Embassy, UPS etc. She still gets them occasionally. They would tell you that you have something to be picked up as soon as possible, and you need to press a certain key to switch to an...

Re: 3 month a year absence

All immigrant based permissions have an inherent requirement of maximum 3-month absence per year, with a few exceptions (EU Treaty, investment scheme, pregnancy, family bereavement etc). I have not been able to find the information myself but I had confirmed this with the both the border staff and o...

Re: IRP CARD NOT RECEIVED

Depending on where you live, you will need to contact the local registration or GNIB as soon as possible. I mean getting onto a call with them or walking into the office. Emails will not be processed until at least a few weeks later. You can also try the visa mail section. They may be faster to go b...

Re: Travel after applying for citizenship

I applied for citizenship and finally received my 2nd letter confirming the minister approved the application. In addition to paying the 950 fee, they asked to send the Original GNIB Card, and that "it will no longer be available to you for travel or other purposes" My question is, if I have an eme...

Re: Can Irish citizen sponsor non-EEA step-child

Is this the case even if the family is from a non-visa required country? I can't imagine any mother wanted to be separated from her child for that length of time. Brutal! Well the policy is there unfortunately. It doesn't really differ between visa and non-visa required nationals. As a non-EU natio...

Re: Online IRP card renewals for everybody in Dublin from 20th of Jul

Yes you can and you should. Stamp 1 counts as reckonable residence while the graduate scheme 1g doesn’t. Also your work permit requires you start working with your employer under the permit. Thanks littlerr, the only issue I'm facing at the moment is that the online system does not accept dates if ...

Re: Naturalisation - waive of condition?

I see, thanks. Does anyone here have experience of applying through having a parent who has citizenship but after your birth? I'm just wondering if it is a strong enough connection to warrant a waive. Each minister uses their own judgment. Some were very strict on minor mistakes, while some are muc...

Re: Citizenship Applications - Content of Second Letter

It is not the actual ‘second’ letter. It is short for ‘ second-stage letter’. The letter will clearly say that ‘ your application has been moved to the second stage ’. It used to be your second letter too, but nowadays more and more people would receive more than 2 letters before their applications ...

Re: Naturalisation - waive of condition?

You can apply early based on Irish association. It would be up to the Minister to decide whether this association is strong enough to waive a few years’ residence requirements, and such applications usually take much longer to process.

If the station is outside of the 5km range from your home, you legally won't be able to travel to the station, as it is not on the list of travel restriction exemptions. They will have to either cancel the appointments and extend the expiry date, or amend their travel restriction exemption list. We ...

You don't need to submit any original document through the online platform as everything should be in pdf or jpeg format. Based on some limited data we have here (in my friend’s firm), the mean and median average period (calculated using from the date when an application is initiated to when it is approved) is actually similar. This is from data prior to Mar 2020. There are a LOT of outliers in standard 5 years submiss...

Re: Naturalisation Queries

1. Yes. It’s taking forever. Consider it anywhere between 1 - 6 months.

2. No. You have only been an Irish person for a few months. She’s better wait till December 2020.

3. On her own. It’s always better to apply on ones own merit rather than depending on a different person.

If you have told the office at the border, and they allowed you in on the basis of joining your EU spouse, then you should be able to register. You should talk to the officer explaining your situation. Took another appointment for the temp Stamp4 and managed to get it stamped which is valid till 27...

Short answer - no. A bit longer answer - yes if you officially adopt the child. Longer explanation - the Family Reunification Policy provides reunification for the immediate family for eligible sponsors. You are an eligible sponsor for your nuclear family, i.e. your wife, but not her child as you ha...

Good luck with that from someone who had to talk to a number of banks and got some real nasty comments / attitudes from certain banks before finally getting a mortgage done. The mortgage market here is really small and sometimes biased towards non-EU nationals. A stamp 4 should give you a bit more s...
