Re: *Help Needed* Irish Citizenship by naturalization - Is my calculation of recognizable residency correct?

You do not decide whether you want to deduct them. You provide your dates of absences to INIS, and they decide whether they want these days to be deducted, or if the reason provided by you is sufficient for an exemption. Business trips are usually exempted but there is no guarantee.

Re: *Help Needed* Irish Citizenship by naturalization - Is my calculation of recognizable residency correct?

Business trips are usually fine as long as they are accompanied by company headed letters. Weddings I’m not so sure. Better safe than sorry I’d say. Btw - here is the explanation provided by the Minister on deducting the six weeks on their entirety: https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/question/2020...

Re: *Help Needed* Irish Citizenship by naturalization - Is my calculation of recognizable residency correct?

Oops... forgot to add that you have to deduct entire absence, not only the days over 6 weeks from your calculation if you spent more than 6 weeks per year outside of of Ireland. Are you sure about this? I have checked this with a solicitor and they confirmed only days over 6 weeks per year should b...

Re: *Help Needed* Irish Citizenship by naturalization - Is my calculation of recognizable residency correct?

The term ‘year’ is always referred to each of the 365 or 366 days prior to you signing your name on the application form. There should be no ambiguity in that, especially given that it is at the centre of the High Court and Court of Appeal cases.

Re: Naturalization Application - Involved in a traffic accident, Although no charges how to procced ?

Traffic collisions are usually civil matters, as long as you haven’t broken the law. The fact that no charges were brought against you means it’s completely a civil matter. I wouldn’t mind it either way. I had a collision before I applied for naturalisation and it was the other driver’s fault. I cal...

Re: Returning back to Ireland after long term stay in India with stamp4 visa to find a job.

How did you obtain your Stamp 4? If you obtained your Stamp 4 via IIP, you can come to Ireland at any time you want. Otherwise, generally speaking you cannot leave the state for more than 3 months in a year. You also need to inform INIS in advance if you are going to be out of the state for longer. ...

Re: Card replacement programme: Non-EU Dependent of UK Citizen

please do you have a link to the q&a section. Quite impossible to get a passport because of the covid 19 restrictions. The expiry date of an IRP card cannot exceed the expiry date of the passport. The basis on which the IRP card is issued is irrelevant. You must have the passport renewed before you...

You answered your own question then.

Have you applied for a new passport? Have you informed INIS of your new passport details as set out in the Q&A document?

Re: EU3 application for Non EU spouse of UK citizen

You need to have a full 5-years of residence before you can apply for either EU3 or citizenship, although in reality EU3 is more lenient. Usually for a straightforward application, a person would have got a temporary 6-12 months Stamp 4 first, before getting a 5-year Stamp 4EUFAM. Therefore, by the ...

That should have been an HR task! They are paid to do their job properly.

Just keep emailing DBEI on the same email thread every week or so if they aren't responding.

Re: Citizenship Application Traffic Offence?

Minor offence? Seems like driving without a licence is severe. Regardless, they'll find out anyway, one presumes. Seems better for them to find out from you than from garda. Driving unaccompanied is not the same as driving without a licence. It used to be de-facto ‘ok’ as most people had done that ...

wondering about this too, as I'm in a situation where I might leave the state at least temporarily due to family reasons abroad in a few months, and now I should consider if it's worth waiting to get my citizenship -which, with the current state of things, can take many years- or just give up on th...

Re: Changing role on Critical skills permit

Payslips are internal matters for your company. They are not a concern for DBEI or INIS. When you apply for your Stamp 4 support letter, just ask your company to issue a letter which clarifies that the company name in your payslip is a subsidiary. And yes you can apply for your Stamp 4 as soon as yo...

You need to check whether your role in the corresponding CSEP category has changed. https://enterprise.gov.ie/en/What-We-Do/Workplace-and-Skills/Employment-Permits/Employment-Permit-Eligibility/Highly-Skilled-Eligible-Occupations-List/ For example, if your role has changed from ‘software developer’ ...

I would suggest that you send an email to the address in that document first. They should be able to advise the next step for you. (Make sure that you send to them early enough. It sometimes takes over a month for them to reply to you.) You can of course try your luck in your local Garda station dir...

Certified copies were acceptable before the Level 5 lockdown (even though it is never an official rule), where the passport application is based on FBR and naturalisation. I am not sure if this is still the case, as they haven't been progressing any passport application for a long time now. Your bes...

The Department of Justice website is where they announce new arrangements. INIS is just a small government body under the Department of Justice,...
