Re: Holding a Chinese and British passport in China

China does not recognise dual nationality, however, children under the age of 18 may be able to avail of conflict of nationality, which means if a child has a Chinese parent who is not a permanent resident in a different country, and can acquire a second citizenship by another mean (e.g. the other p...

Re: Passport Card Travel

If you need a visa to travel to the UK on your non-EU passport, you need to apply for one. Otherwise the airline will not allow you to board the plane, even if you have an Irish passport card. This is not true. Timatic , the IATA system used by airlines to check travel documents' validity for a fli...

Re: Type C visa for Filipina Girlfriend

Most countries have long stopped having explicit requirements as to how much a person should have before applying for a visa. Requirements for short visit visas are simple - a person needs to prove that: (1) They have sufficient ties in their own country so that they will abide by their visa conditi...

Re: Type C visa for Filipina Girlfriend

For short visit visas, it would be better if she could show proof that she will be able to pay for her visit by herself - at least to some extent. Your sponsorship helps, but it is not the main determining factor. Having a boyfriend/girlfriend doesn’t mean or guarantee anything in the eyes of a visa...

Re: Section 4 and 5 Citizenship queries

They don’t need to be that accurate - nobody could really remember the exact date (or even month) after a few years of moving in and out. If you have some old utility bills, and you plan to submit them as part of your application, just make sure the address on these bills are consistent with your st...

Re: Travel abroad week after the citizenship ceremony

It is technically not valid any more, but your airline does not need to know that. :) Bring a copy of your naturalisation certificate. When you come back to Ireland, show both the certificate and the IRP card to the border control. If you haven’t received the cert yet, bring a copy of the approval l...

Re: Parking at citizenship ceremony Killarney

There are parking spaces but they tend to be filled up quickly. I went there early enough to get a space. Not sure if there is space for everybody in the end. Most hotels nearby will allow you to park there for free or for a nominal fee though.

Re: Study Visa Ireland - bond & evidence of fees paid

1. Bond has been in place for many years. It is a very popular way of proving financial situations. You will not be rejected if you provide bond without bank statement, however, as stated, they will likely ask for more proofs of finance if there is any doubt, which does happen a lot (the amount of b...

Re: Dress code? For ceremony

You wear whatever you want to wear. There is no dress code. It’s summer. It can be very warm, and it can be raining a lot in west Ireland.

Some people wear formal and come prepared (learn the Irish anthem if you wish!). Others just come with t-shirts and flip-flops.

Sounds like your residence is based on marriage with a Dutch national. You will need a visa if that’s the case.

You said it says ‘Article 10 of Directive 2004/38/EC’ on the back of your card?

You can email them with a valid reason and proof, although it is questionable whether a non-refundable holiday is considered one of them. If they accept your request, they will tell you alternative options. Usually it means you will be placed on to the next scheduled ceremony, which is a few months ...

Re: Person ID

Apologies I didn’t read the entire thread in detail. Thought you were doing IRP renewal or filling in the initial naturalisation application, which you don’t need a Person ID.
Yes for Garda vetting you need a Person ID. Glad they were able to respond promptly.

If you don’t have it, just leave it blank or put n/a in it. It’s not a mandatory field and people who have never needed to interact with INIS by post will not have one.

Re: when i can apply Irish Passport?

You can’t apply for Irish passports directly. You need to apply for a naturalisation certificate. Approved asylum seekers need 3 years of residence, backtracked from the day of arrival into Ireland. Your wife can apply right now. You should go through the standard 5 year route from the date when you...

If you want to use RTB record as part of your 150 points for each of the five years, you should provide five years of proofs.

You don’t need to submit copies of the permit. They are issued by DETE so they have access to them anyway when they process your support letter request.
