Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi - Found this thread last week and it has brought me to the realisation that it's unlikely I will have my Irish passport in my hand by end of June 2020 before I'm due to go on holiday and that I will have to renew my British one! Both me and my cousin have applied to be placed onto the FBR. He ap...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

On a related topic, going through the supporting documents which were returned with my certificate, I notice I'm missing the certified copies of my passport, and my mother's passport. Has anyone else had these retained too? Slightly frustrating as my siblings are planning to make their own applicat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

*UPDATE* I posted back in June. Brit in the Netherlands here. Posted my FBR application to the Irish Embassy here in the Netherlands early January this year. Called today to see if I can get an update. My application was approved last week! "Congratulations, you're now an Irish citizen! " the perso...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Irish FBR is the core topic and the only topic for discussion, understandable. So in the future, I should expect not to see any Irish Passport discussion or other questions about naturalization. Hi Michael The FBR is the core topic but it doesn't hurt if anyone on here mentions about the progress o...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

When he completed and had his FBR witnessed, in order to be well organised, he also got his passport application completed and additional photos also signed by the same official - bar dating them - at the same time. This was, optimistically, so that should his certificate come back whilst he was aw...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Both me and my cousin have applied to be placed onto the FBR. He applied in April of this year, and because I have no patience to wait for the certificates to come back, I bought copies and sent off my own application. Does anyone know if this could cause issues in Dublin (i.e two applications, two...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The Scottish government has a blueprint for citizenship through descent, which is essentially modeled on Irish FBR. There is a white paper on the issue available at the link below. Pages 271-273 are relevant and there is a helpful table on page 273 that sets out eligibility. https://www2.gov.scot/re...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

All recent updates will be added in a few days. I will get to them, don't worry. I had to cut short my time in Malta and head back to the UK. My sister was just diagnosed with MS and I have gone back to spend some time with her and my family. This is why I have not been so active lately.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's good to see so many people making progress with their applications. A confirmation of address means that you are probably a few weeks away from delivery. Light at the end of the tunnel indeed.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I never received confirmation of receipt from the London Embassy to the best of my recollection. but I sent it via recorded post so I know they got it the day after I sent it off, i.e. 9th October 2019. I have added you in as an October 2018 applicant. Is the general consensus that the 6-12 months ...

Was there really an FBR employee on the board ranting at members? I totally missed it. Why do I always miss the exciting stuff? Good Evening, I'm pleased (and perhaps a little surprised) to say that my FBR Certificate arrived in the post today, dated 11th September. That makes it almost exactly 51 weeks since I received the email confirming receipt of my application. So, now on to the passport application. I propose travell...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I submitted my application in Nov 2018. I’ll be pretty gutted if I have to start my (approximately) twelve month wait from the confirmation email in March 2019, all because of the delay in shifting over London applications to Balbriggan. That would mean a total sixteen month wait (minimum??) for ap...
