Re: Renewing spouse visa but the sponsor is self-employeed

IF i officially started working as self-employed (sole-trader) on Nov (2022), then renewed my wife's via application on April 2023, does this mean that i will not qualify on either Category F or G since i have just started by self-employment? When did you start being self employed? Why are you maki...

He is not on the council tax as I get a tax reduction and I did tell them he was in the property but he was never added. He must pay his taxes and must be added to the property you live in for Council Tax purposes. You can't claim as a single person (claim the 25% single person discount) as that is...

The 2003 Directive provides long term non European residents with the ability to achieve permanent residence. Why only for non-Europeans? Some Europeans need visas to visit or work in other European countries. e.g. Russians are Europeans https://www.countries-ofthe-world.com/countries-of-europe.htm...

Thanks, yes she went ahead and applied for a part-time job which pays £10 per hour for 6 hours a day. I think we are sorted for most parts of finance. Well done her. It will good for her to meet other people and to have the satisfaction of earning her own money. The self employment route seems to r...

Re: Zambrano Settled Status EU settlement scheme Paper Application Form - NEW

The questions today, is what was the original intention of the Home Office when they launched the EU Settlement Scheme? And, was that original intention lawful? From the Hackney Community Law Centre, who have the Akinsanya case. Although Ms Akinsanya was successful overall in the Court of Appeal, t...

Re: Renewing spouse visa but the sponsor is self-employeed

The 10 year route is going to be very expensive: fees and the IHS (both of which can rise). The £18,600 to sponsor is very low and easy to reach. If all you can earn is minimum wage (£9.50 per hour) you can work just under 38 hours a week to reach the £18,600. £9.50 x 38 = £361 x 52 = £18,772 pa Joi...

-his earnings and any capital he has, will reduce your monthly Universal Credit benefit payment. I've just looked this up. For every £1 you or your partner earns, your monthy UC payment goes down by 55p, until your UC amount is £0. While you claim Universal Credit, it's unlikely his working will st...

It seems the hospitals do use debt collectors too, as well as telling the Home Office of the unpaid debt. From their guidance- Sharing data on those with debts. 12.11 NHS bodies (or debt collection agencies working on their behalf) can share non-clinical data with the Home Office, via the Department...

She has her own NHS number too. Having an NHS number does not give bill free use of the NHS. Those who have to pay to use the NHS have their own unique number too, for all their health records to be held under that number. The gov.uk site makes it very clear that the NHS will only be bill free when...

Re: ILR for wife of (British Citizen from Tier 1 Entrepreneur)

Apart from Universal Credit being a new welfare system, during Covid, the UK operated a Trust and Protect for those asking for welfare benefits as they didn't have savings. The warning was given on their application, that they would be asked for documents/proof at a later stage and to make sure they...

Well the reason I used "yet" was that at some point in the future my mother would be able to get a pension if she lives long enough for it, especially her being 67 years of old working full time and having regular contributions towards her pension pot. So , it's not a case of a "freeloader " who is...

The spouse cannot collect any kind of public funds. If the BC wants to collect by him or her self, fine. But not as a couple.
It would be benefit fruad if they did not decale their partner to Universal Credit; or most other welfare benefits

From a Benefit calculator If you have Limited Leave to Remain or Enter you usually have no recourse to public funds. This means that you cannot claim most benefits, or have someone else's benefit claim increased to cover you. If a claim is made it may affect your right to remain in the UK. There ar...

It's so unfortunate that you didn't take advice when you realised your wife could not pass the Life in the UK Test for ILR and her visa was running out. It must be very stressful for you both while you wait for the result of her application. There are a couple of articles here that might help unders...
