What they do is , calls your emplpyer, discuss with him/her about your details. Sometimes, they talk with your manager, you, too.

No its not needed. usually, degree obtained from AICTE approved colleges in India is considered equivalent to UK Bachelors(honors).

Delay can be due to custom checks, too.
In my case,it apparantly happened. As my enevelope was tampered. And was delayed by a week than normal.
