Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My mum has sent in her 1st time passport application (descent via her Irish dad). They received her “support/evidence docs” on 7th feb, tracker says estimated issue date is 6th March. Current status is “processing application” Does this mean her docs have been checked and OK’d & she is accepted for...

Re: Help with clarification of citizenship via descent.

Any one else got citizenship via their ggf/m? I'm curious to know. I've not heard of a single successful FBR application through great grandparents. Have you combed both of the FBR threads on this board to see if anyone has? One thread is locked and one is new but they both have quite a bit of info.

Re: Travel for South African with UK ILR into ROI

Thanks - but not sure if there would be immigration checks on the Scot-NI ferry route due to both ends being in the UK? Assuming we don't get checked on the ferry and obviously don't get checked when crossing the border, what happens if we get stopped by an official in ROI for whatever reason and i...

Re: Travel for South African with UK ILR into ROI

The CTA rules only govern citizens, not ILR holders. As for travel via ferry there may be immigration checks so she should be prepared to present her passport as a visitor, though as you said she doesn't require a visa unless you're intending to stay longer than 90 days.

Re: Registering on foreign birth register - adoption

A few similar posts I think in the FBR thread here - ireland/foreign-birth-registration-t277641-1980.html
Read the last few pages of the thread and there have been several adoption situations.

Unfortunately, if you can't prove 2 years of cohabitation you aren't going to qualify for de facto.

Hi all, Looking for my GF/GM 1907 marriage certificate in NY state. Just heard back from the town that they do not have any record of the marriage. A little poking around genealogy sites found that Catholic's marrying around that time did not always get a municipal license (for cost or other reason...

I got the confirmation email in early December, and replied to confirm my posta...

Re: Irish Citizenship Non EU Wife & Children

Hey Harry! It looks like having a naturalized parent applying for a minor child is under the list of circumstances for the minister waiving conditions, in which case 3 years seems possible. But I suppose it also depends on how long it takes for the parent to become naturalized, if it's a lengthy wai...

Re: Meeting MIR in less than 6 mos

Minimum 6 months evidence is mandatory, nothing has changed in this regard. I've confirmed with a highly regarded immigration solicitor in the UK that the requirement is not 6 months mandatory for Category B. The guidance is often incorrectly interpreted but for Category B, up to 12 months of paysl...

Hi Everybody, I just did my online application today and paid my €278 and I’m feeling quite excited! I live in Glasgow and wondered if anyone who has been through the process...

Re: Visa for Spouse of a british citizen living abroad

In order for your wife to have UK spouse visa you both need to be permanently residing in the UK. So if you are looking for her to gain a residence permit for the country you reside in you would be better to ask that question in a forum dedicated to that country.

Meeting MIR in less than 6 mos

Gurus/mods, a question for you. If the sponsor is in a new job in the UK and meets the MIR in five months (with no prior income in the preceding 7 months), then all they need to supply is that five months of slips correct? The previous supporting evidence guidance document (dated 9/12) which specifi...
