Another thing. In the question "Is a representative filling the form on your behalf?" Should I say yes since I'm filling it out for my baby or should it be no as this only meant for solicitors filling out on my behalf?

Were you stopped because the baby didn't have a visa or that the visa was issued in Pakistan? DEFINITELY get the children's passports stamped with the visa in the UK. I was in the exact same position as you a few years ago and had the exact same problem i.e. On workpermit, children born in UK , only...

Dependent visa of Work Permit holder for new baby

How long does the Home Office take to issue a dependent visa for a new baby born in the UK. I'm a Work Permit holder. We're going on holiday in our home country in 6 weeks and not sure if the visa will be issued on time. My other option is to apply at UK VFS in my home country but since will only be...

I think they only start checking if you claimed for public funds when you're applying for ILR/British citizenship.

I remember seeing a post here somewhere that her ILR application was still approved when she provided proof that she paid back public funds she incorrectly claimed.

I've already bought a house. But instead of going through Homebuy, the builder (eg Bovis, Barratt, George Wimpey) provides an incentive for first time buyers where they take care of the 25% of the price hence, I did not need to put up a deposit. It is a loan for 10 years with no interest in the firs...

Homebuy Direct

Hi newtier1, have you heard from the Home Office? I am in a similar boat as you. I'm planning to buy a house through the Homebuy Direct scheme. Instead of part-buy, part-rent, the govt and builder will provide an equity loan so that one would not need to put up a big deposit. When I registered with ...

Congratulations. I'm glad your employer agreed to this. Does this mean they will issue you a contract? Do you need it for POEA? I didn't have to go through the POEA (because I have HSMP), but my employer here did not give me my contract until they saw my passport and visa when I arrived. Good luck....

alina and vinay, Of course I don't want to lose my passport. It's just that I'm trying to balance my fear of losing it against how I can convince my prospective employer, as they might think I'm just being too paranoid about it. Given all the unfortunate circumstances vinay narrated, I'm now definit...

I checked DHL's website and passports are considered a usual document. They are not prohibited. Isn't it that for Tier 1 applications, you now have to send passports to HO since it is now a one-stop process unlike the two-stage process for HSMP (ie HSMP approval from HO then entry clearance from loc...

But I would not trust that the passport would stay safe while being handled by so many people in so many different countries before it gets back to me. And if it gets lost, who do you think has to deal with it? Do you think it will be safer if sent through DHL or Fedex instead of the local post off...

In a way, I can say that I can trust the company since they already incurred costs for me when they invited me for a face-to-face interview, all expenses paid by them, and when they applied for a work permit on my behalf. I'm just very uncomfortable sending out my passport with a risk that it may no...

I've already asked them if I can just send a scanned copy then present them the original when I've arrived in the UK. Sending passport to prospective employer

I'm currently outside the UK, already have a work permit approved and just waiting for the work visa to be issued. My prospective employe...

vinny, even with less than 5 years of residency, the spouse can apply for ILR along with the main applicant? Also, I think I read somewhere that the dependent spouse will have to go through a spouse visa first and only after 2 years will he/she be able to apply for ILR. Can you please clarify? Thanks.

I am getting confused with this 28 days. Please tell me what is wrong with my analysis. Suppose my 5-yr work visa starts on April 1, 2008. So it expires on April 1, 2013. If I enter the UK on April 15, 2008, I will only be in the UK for 5 years on April 15, 2013, but my visa would have expired by th...
