Re: Dec 2022 ceremony to and from

So they make a rule but only the chumps who care about rules get stuck dealing with finding childcare because rules don't matter. How Irish of them.

Re: Dec 2022 ceremony to and from

The last twist of the knife from Immigration. You can't bring children either so it's inconvenient for parents. And all for a pointless ceremony that does nothing but boost hotel prices in Killarney.

Re: New scoreboard approach is foolish

Yes, though it was a really cheap house in the midlands, under 100k. I used the deposit I'd saved for Dublin and after several banks refused to give me a mortgage I just looked for what I could buy in cash with the deposit. Back in 2018 there were still cheap houses out in the countryside, less so n...

Re: Citizenship Applications statistics and timelines

One thing I noticed - in the recent timeline posts, it looks like they've sometimes gone straight from the acknowledgement and passport return to e-vetting. Are they skipping the home country police checks?

Ouch, you have to have a mortgage statement or a registered tenancy? I own my house and paid cash, so no mortgage. Would showing the deed suffice?

If you've been waiting since 2018, that's more than long enough to seek judicial review. See related threads in this sub.

Maybe you could get a new passport from the British Embassy? It's ridiculous they're hanging on to them for 4+ months; people have lives to live.

Mine came from CMU 2 @fuzzbizz I see from the "2019 Citizenship Applications Timelines Only" thread that you've included "Garda e-vetting form: 17/05/2021" on your timeline. Is this a form you received? I was under the impression that this is a new step that would only apply to more recent applicati...

FOI - nothing happening?

I notice that other people have done FOI and see garda vetting at least once a year. Is that normal? I got my FOI response back yesterday. I applied March 2019 and they haven't even done a garda vetting since 2019. I'm curious if others have had the same experience.

Re: Citizenship Application Traffic Offence?

A lot of people like to hang on to the fiction that "provisional licence" is still a thing (they don't exist anymore) but if you drive alone, with only a learner's permit (a learner's permit is not a licence) that seems equivalent to driving without a licence. It's very, very clearly against the law...

Minor offence? Seems like driving without a licence is severe. Regardless, they'll find out anyway, one presumes. Seems better for them to find out from you than from garda.
