Any idea what changed? Maybe related to the PSC card fiasco?

Re: estranged family.. fbr yay or nay?

Apply at http://lifeevents.hse.ie/ . https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/b ... death.html could be useful. You'll need at least a few bits of info on the people whose certs you want.

Re: estranged family.. fbr yay or nay?

Seems like you could do this by digging up birth certs without the people involved. It might be a good idea to talk to a solicitor.

To clarify: "Birth, marriage, adoption, civil partnership and death certificates are public records, meaning anybody can access or apply for them."

Although, littlrr makes a good point. Not having your old passport could be an issue, though I imagine there's some facility for people with lost passports, etc.

" We wont be outside of the daycount limits, but cant stand behind the veracity of the travel information we supply" Are they asking for travel dates even though you say you haven't been out of the country more than 6 weeks per annum, or are you just wanting to make sure you can back up your claim i...

"The sibling is undocumented but was born in Ireland. "

You at least have a birth certificate I hope? I suspect they'll be subjected to the same rules as any sibling (parent here at least 3 years, or they can naturalize when they turn 5)

Re: Zambrano Application Timeline

Sorry, I just saw the questions. I already was in the country on stamp 1 (Critical Skills Employment Permit) - I had a child who was a citizen because I'd been here three years and got moved to stamp 4.

6 weeks per year is the stated guidelines, but if we end up with legislation on the matter it could be different.

Wow, can you elaborate? That's kind of a game changer - makes Zambrano a bit unnecessary, no? I never even thought of that but I have two Irish citizen children, would make things simpler if nothing else!

Re: GNIB expiring in the end of October

Hmm.. that's a really good point actually. Honestly I have a hard time imagining the ceremony happening before your GNIB card arrives but don't take my word for it! I thought you just didn't want to pay the €300 (I certainly wouldn't!)

Re: GNIB expiring in the end of October

http://www.inis.gov.ie/ says they will be sending letters with 4 weeks' notice, and the Dail hasn't even sat yet, so I'd say October is really optimistic.

If I were you, I'd schedule the appointment for just before the GNIB card expires and if in fact the ceremony is before that, you can cancel.

" Invitations will issue at least four weeks in advance of the ceremony to ensure everyone has adequate notice. "

So clearly October at the absolute soonest (and even that seems unlikely)

Fee if transferring visa stamp to new passport?

About a year and a half ago, my wife and I got stamp 4 for three years after our daughter was born (Zambrano). We each paid €300. Her stamp is good for three years, but mine was only valid until my passport expired (next month). I've gotten a new passport, does anyone know if they will charge me €30...

Re: Maternity and Infant Care Scheme

Just a note - OP appears to be in Ireland, not the UK. It might be a good idea to talk to https://nascireland.org/, immigrantcouncil.ie, etc. If the unborn child has an Irish citizen parent then I _think_ they (the unborn child) are entitled to care because they are an Irish citizen. And I imagine i...

Speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if things are more or less on hold until new legislation. I sent in a police background check and what I got in response was another second stage letter, weirdly.

Also from the states here - For what it's worth I had to leave the country for a month or two while stuff was processed. Hard to say but right now, yes, it means you couldn't even travel to Donegal via Northern Ireland for instance. It's pretty terrible.

I believe it does in fact affect pending applications, but I'm not sure.

Court rules "continuous residence" means you CANNOT LEAVE IRELAND AT ALL for year before application

The court has ruled that "continuous residence" means you may not spend one day outside of Ireland in the year prior to application.

Thanks, sounds like I need to go with FBI then.

I didn't need one for the application, but the second stage letter specified that I needed a Police Clearance Certificate from any country I've lived in. The wording is pretty vague (I don't blame them; countries will vary) but I was curious if anyone else had used the FBI one, their stat's Departme...

Acceptable Police Clearance for American?

Just out of curiosity, what is considered an acceptable police clearance, particularly for people from the US? I sent a letter from the California Department of Justice showing no criminal history, but they seem underwhelmed. Have people needed to go through the FBI?
