Thanks John,

I entered 3 Nov 2003 and My wife entered 7 Mar 2005 as a dependant.
We both aquired ILR on 7 Dec 2008.
I hope we both can apply for Naturalisation on 7 Dec 2009.

If I apply seperately then I would have to pay double fees which I want to avoid.

Existing LTR is deemed to be continous until the new application is decided. So he should be fine. No he is not fine. Otherwise OP wouldn't be posting here in the first place, HO has already rejected his ILR application. You are allowed to remain in country only if you have FLR application pending ...

If your application for new leave to remain against you new work permit was done after expiry of your old leave to reamin against your old work permit, then UKBA will unfortunately treat this as a break in your continuous residence while considering your ILR application. Sorry I didnt put my question right I wanted to know if an Indian national can acquire EU wide visa. No, you'd need a Schengen Visa + additional individual visas for any non-Schengen states you wanted to visit. Execellent. But then where can a Indian national apply for this schengen visa in India!
