Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

Would be so much better (in terms of coping with uncertainty) if they posted citizenship certificate in the same way they do for children applications.Maybe for limited period until we are back to normal life. They might do it closer to the date, otherwise alternative is to postpone it for the year...

Re: 6 weeks absences Ireland

The Minister merely applies what is constituted by law.
It is therefore the law that needs to change.

Re: 6 weeks absences Ireland

Hello,

Just looking at the annual leave alone, you don’t have enough reckonable residence as you’ve been out of the State for more than 42 days (6 weeks x 7 days) a year (esp years 3 & 4) bar the last.

Re: Refused visa to join eu national spouse.

His wife? If you look at the letter, it is addressed to a ‘Miss X’.. ‘Dear Miss X’ not ‘Mrs X’. They probably do not consider her to be legally married to him/ recognise the marriage. Question is why?! Does he have other wives (apologies for asking- purely non-judgemental) or was he married before? ...

Re: Wrong Date entered

Go to your nearest GNIB office and get it amended. You might get a stamp on it stating ‘cancelled without prejudice’ and they’ll re-stamp it and write in the correct date.

Re: Need to travel abroad right after citizenship ceremony

You should be fine with the naturalisation certificate.
If you live in Dublin, you can go to the GNIB office and join the que where you merely ask questions (as per a friend of mine who went there to get something sorted) and request for a stamp 6.

Congrats K - I must admit your entries here were quite reminiscent of journal entries and made me smile. :) Glad you’re making it! CaptainF- Whoa! Good going! Congrats! Hopefully you’ll make it to this ceremony. :) Congrats to everyone else who got approved and will make it to the March ceremonies! ...

Re: Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

Congrats to everyone who has been approved thus far! I note that invitations are currently being issued. Out of curiosity, are any approvals being issued too?

I couldn’t get through to the helpline today and haven’t had any email replies.

Thank you.

Re: Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

My sister got her approval today and she applied on the last week of july 2019 :D I applied a week or two before her and have been getting the same email response "application continues to be processed.." Re: Citizenship, letter from deparment of justice, what is mean?

Yes, it truly would be nice if they could be more transparent. I reckon with the changes in the new application requirements (submitting doctors letter, police clearance cert, etc), it would streamline everything a whole lot more, making it more straightforward. I’ve copied/pasted my timeline from t...

Re: Citizenship, letter from deparment of justice, what is mean?

Actually no- she said that I won’t make it to the one in March but should (but cant confirm) make it to the one in July. Looks like no more will be sent to the minister for approval or those that will be approved are with the minister. Makes sense- election in a few days and it’ll take time for them...

Re: Citizenship, letter from deparment of justice, what is mean?

Generic. Second stage, etc doesn’t really matter as many receive their approvals without the second stage letter. I’m got the same letter but was told on the phone today that they have everything they need, that my file is complete but was not submitted to the minister yet. What is important now is ...

Re: Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

I applied in June 2019 and was told on the phone that I should make it to the ‘March ceremony’ in Dec 2019 when I called as all they’re apparently waiting on is for the Garda vetting. Good character, no convictions, taxes always in and never claimed benefits. Been told that it is still being process...

Upon reading this, an application could be anywhere after the first stage- ie, gathering information for the application to be submitted to the minister. I think its pretty smart of them as someone would read it and not contact them th...

PSC - public services card. Mine expired a few days ago. I received the new card and just wanted to send it to them as it as something we had to submit when I applied. Just being proactive. I know about the whole PSC saga and note that it isn’t required now. Went through the documents required now a...

Re: Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

Very unlikely at the best of times but extremely unlikely since the announcement of the impending election. How does the impending elections on the 8th of Feb affect ...
