How can you travel to UK without visa ? the check in staff at the departure airport won't even let you in - unless you have a chartered plane perhaps.

Residency if you mean the completion of 5 ( or more ) years towards claiming citizenship, then definitely yes. If you mean your residence card or your right to return to Romania, then no.
