Re: Can apply visit visa instead of OCI for new born child in India after getting British passport??

Hi anv1, Thank you for your reply. If I apply for OCI, it will take further long...... If I apply for residence permit & exit clearance certificate, will it take long time to get those ? Do I have to apply exit clearance certificate from UK or from India please ? Obviously India - you are exiting I...

Re: Travel documents for India

1) Can a British national with no OCI get an emergency OCI in order to travel to India? If so, how do they do this? I understand visit visas are not available to foreign nationals at the moment. There is no such thing as an emergency OCI. All OCI applications need to be security cleared through the...

Re: UK born Indian passport (AFTER one year of birth of child)

Is your child eligible for UK citizenship? If so, apply for UK citizenship. You won't have to register in the High Commission in that case - just apply for an OCI at a later date. If not, then you would have to go through the process of registering as an Indian citizen at the High Commission. You wo...

Re: Surrendering Indian Passport and OCI

Hello All, Many thanks for whoever helped me to get through the British Citizenship application. I have now received an approval email for the same. I am yet to attend the ceremony and obtain a BC certificate. My question is: - I now need to surrender Indian passport and acquire OCI. Can that be do...

Re: Travel Before Attending Oath Ceremony

The moment you gain UK citizenship through registration or naturalisation, you lose Indian citizenship. The oath has to be taken before the UK deem you a naturalised UK citizen. So until then, you're an Indian citizen and you can travel on an Indian passport legally. For the benefit of anyone else r...

Sorry to be nosy, but why do you need a PCC if you already hold OCI?
Many reasons. To apply for a permanent visa elsewhere or a security clearance, you have to produce police clearances from countries you have resided in for more than 3 months over the last 5 years (or sometimes 10 years).

Hi, I would like to apply for PCC at HCI London. But the information provided online and also by VFS support email seems to be misleading. 1. I cannot seem to find the offline forms for applying PCC at HCI London 2. According to VFS website, both Indian nationals and non-Indian nationals have to fi...

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

All original documents are returned. The OCI is a visa that is valid for life. This is subject to eligibility conditions (eg not working for a military) so it can be revoked if the holder does not meet the eligibility criteria. The OCI card is the ICAO-compatible booklet that you get as proof you ho...

So what's the cut off criteria when topics get their own sub forum page? The US and Australia sections are pretty dormant, whilst the Indian one is very active. For the last 50 threads (including stickies), these are the other posts regarding non-India related topics: 1. Pakistan x 1 2. Hong Kong x ...

Take screenshots of the lack of available booking slots. If you ask you to pay a fine, show evidence that the issue was at their end due to a lack of booking slots. That should prevent you from getting a fine.

Re: Travelling to India after UK naturalization

As mentioned above, its best to get clarity from the High Commission before travel in writing. This will make it easier. Yes, while travelling on an Indian passport while being a former Indian citizen can create problems and attract a fine. Having clarity from the HC will avoid issues as you have do...

It's also best to get all your address proof (Aadhaar, Indian drivers licence, election card, and inform NDSL for PAN card) updated to your new one. That way you have less hassles in the future.

Hello Mods,

I am just opening the discussion if the topic on "Overseas Citizenship of India" (OCI) needs its own forum area instead of residing under the "Other Countries" section, since the posts on the OCI overwhelmes all other posts.

If it approved, then you need to ask them what is it that you are waiting for from their end to enter Belgium. If it's an e-visa, then you should be able to print it and travel to Belgium. With Form D visa, the longest wait is the security clearance from the host country. But as you mentioned, your ...

Re: OCI Update Necessary?

Ok, let's clear up the mystery once and for all. The OCI is a visa. Once issued, this visa is valid for life unless revoked or the holder becomes ineligile (e.g. working for a foreign military). The OCI photo ID card on the other hand needs to be updated depending on the age of the person. If under ...

Yes I will be carrying my British passport as well for entry back in UK, just wondering if it is only the airlines that check if you have a visa/passport and not the immigration officers. The purpose of departing immigration is to ensure that your passport is not flagged on the system, and you do n...

Your best bet is to discuss with the High Commission for the legalities as the pandemic has thrown normal processes and procedures out of the window. They might provide a special case to spare you the fine. So, yes, there is a likelihood of you getting fined 10,000 each time you travel on the passpo...

Hi team,
Apologies if I am being naive - can we do renunciation and OCI application together?
No - you need the renunciation documents to attach to your OCI application.
