Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Can adopted kids get on the FBR? My sister is adopted. She was adopted under US law. Our grandfather was born in Ireland. She has no idea who her birth parents (or grandparents) are/were. Safe to say they're not Irish. Can my sister apply for Irish citizenship through the FBR? I believe (but you sh...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi All, I'm in a bit of a confusing situation and I'm wondering if you can help. I'm applying for FBR through my Irish grandfather, he was a quirky character and tended to fabricate things a bit. On his birth and marriage certificate just his first and last name are written, however on his death ce...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

Hi, I got my passport at Christmas after ~10 weeks with no complications. I sent my original GB passport and it was returned promptly shortly after the passport arrived. I think you would be right to not expect your passport back much before May. The regulations I've read do say they would accept a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for the information. However, my dad is not an Irish citizen as he was born in the UK to an Irish mother but never applied for citizenship. Hence my issue is can I apply using my Grandmother without my dad registering first on the FBR (so skipping a generation)?? I'll tell you what--have you...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Everyone!! I'm new to this process and cannot find the answer I'm looking for on the FBR pages of the Irish Authorities. My question concerns applying through my Irish born grandmother for approval to join the FBR and ultimately nationality. Before I can apply, does my dad need to have already r...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

Congratulations jgclancy! Jeez applying for the first passport seems to be even worse than the citizenship! The fact that you might get sent to the back of the queue is infuriating to be honest, especially if they already have the required documents. So how long on average it's taking people now fr...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

So I'm now a whole month since my estimated Issue date of the 10th Jan and still stuck at 'processing' having read the last few comments I'm wondering if it's worth poking the tiger via webchat or just leaving it and seeing how long it takes to run. One month?..yes, I'd make contact if I were you ....

Spoke too soon. They are saying my proof of name and proof of address were photocopies... Which one wasn't and the other one was from an online bill. I have ebill for electricity. This is ridiculous. Estimated delivery date was 22nd of February. On the queue of the webchat now. See what happens [/q...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

After spending years on the FBR and passport boards, I am reluctant to let either passport out of my hands even for an instant! I'll wait until they go back to allowing this to be done in person. In the meantime, I have my Irish passport card as a back-up. Yeah...I sent notarized copies of passport...

There are forums out there dated from the early 2000's showing regular people had sent FBR applications, been approved then applied and received a passport all in a three month period. Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

Hi all. I'm out of the FBR frying pan and into the passport application fire. My GP has agreed to fill it in with me next week, but I'm unclear on what evidence she needs to pr...

Re: FBR - What exactly does the witness have to witness?

The witness signs your form after witnessing you sign it. He also signs & dates two of the photos. Make outlines on a piece of paper of the photo size and have the witness practice a little. Lastly, he sings a true copy of YOU-The Applicants ID. Add a statement like: I, witnesses name (printed) , at...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

What an amazing thread! I've tried to find the answer to my question by searching the thread, but can't see anything quite concrete. As such: Does anyone know if the queue is ordered by date of application 'submitted', i.e., via online and payment made OR by when supporting documents were received?...
