Re: More than 6 weeks outside the country per year

Can you clarify what risk are you taking about? I dont think there is any risk beside getting rejected and having to wait a bit longer. In the application form it mentioned enclosing details of all absences on a separate sheet and include it with the application, and that is what I am going to do. ...

Re: Law on being outside of Ireland AFTER naturalisation application?

They have said that I need "permission to remain in the state up to the date of naturalisation" but I'm confused on this. I have a US passport so can enter the country at any time for the naturalisation and stay up to three months. You're seriously mistaken on this. As people above pointed out, cit...

Re: More than 6 weeks outside the country per year

I strongly advise you not to take a risk. Wait until you have 5 years without absences over 6 weeks per year. You might have read someone saying they were approved despite being away for more than 6 weeks, but you won't know if they lied on the form, or if it was an exceptional situation. Every appl...

Re: DELAY IN RECIEVING DOCUMENTS

This is not normal. My permission expired 4 months ago, and I still don't have an appointment to renew it. My local Garda station is taking it slow and easy with me. Never before I appreciated my patience as much as I do now

Re: New citizenship applications

Does the minister check all citizen applications personally before approval letter is sent out or just random applications? I'd doubt the minister has time to verify all applications but i'm curious as to wether the minister checks all applications personally. In vast majority of cases, it is depar...

Re: New citizenship applications

It does matters. 6 months was really putting them in a sort of position where if any question asked in Dail about processing times, they can give a rough estimate of how many applications were processed in 6 months. Them extending 12 months clearly shows that they have now delayed the processing of...

Re: New citizenship applications

Has anyone even seen this? Like 12 months processing time officially? Earlier it was 6 months and we were hoping that the new minister since being young will bring radical changes and now the citizenship application processing time officially has been increased from 6 to 12 months. Like this is abs...

Re: Spouse visa

Can I ask them to return my passport because I want to go in holiday? Is there’s any problem if I ask them to return my passport? Try to apply for a second passport with relevant authorities on your country if it's possible. This could be an easiest solution. I'm a dual Russian-American citizen and...

Re: Can the Minister of Justice and Equality revoke citizenship?

It is categorically not true that if you kill someone in Ireland you will always spend the rest of your life in prison. Why make such silly statements? There was a guy who killed 2 people and only served 9 years before getting day release! Last year at least 150 killers were free from prison. Go an...

Re: Can the Minister of Justice and Equality revoke citizenship?

Revocation could allow for deportation as a foreign criminal and therefore save the state the cost of imprisoning them. Revoking someone's citizenship does not eliminate responsibility for the crime they've commited. By Irish law if you kill someone, you're going to spend the rest of your life in p...

Re: Can the Minister of Justice and Equality revoke citizenship?

Minister has a power to revoke citizenship under certain circumstances. It is regulated by Irish Nationality and citizenship Act, not the UN's view on statelessness. Section 19 of the Act clearly explains it.

In your example revocation won't be necessary as the person will be jailed for life.

Re: Reporting changes while Naturalization Application In Process

Can't speculate about individual cases, but it is known that they have to be informed about any significant changes in circumstances of the applicant. As applicant is not a citizen until they have attended the ceremony I would strongly advice to report it. There are recent cases about people who lie...

Re: Reporting changes while Naturalization Application In Process

Passport? Citizenship department does not issue passports. You must inform them while your application is still in the processing if you get married or divorced, get convicted of any criminal offense, change your address, change or lose your job, claim social welfare, or leave the country for a long...

Re: EU Fam card in Ireland, Moved to UK

No. If she moved to the UK with you, she is not a resident in Ireland anymore as it's a different jurisdiction. I'd strongly advise you not to try claiming that she was a resident in Ireland if she is not living here. Two countries exchange extensive amount of information between each other and the ...
