I don't get it......You work for the World's top company. Why do you want to leave the job ?

It will be an uphill struggle to get a new job if you have no prior UK Exp..Be prepared for this. Try to schedule some interviews before you land here....

Getting a credit card right away is difficult. In fact you may struggle to open a bank account. Opening a bank account in UK is the first step.

The "no tax" rule for offshore companies is only for two years. If you stay beyond that you are considered a UK employee and you are liable to pay tax as per your salary. Highlighting the salary inputs with a marker, in your bank statements is not a problem.

As for salary slips, it would have been better if you hadn't tampered with that. Have you explained this in the covering letter ? If so, it shouldn't be a problem.

I think you are right Ashish..There is nothing called ILR now..You'll be a drifter until you gain citizenship which has been made tougher and expensive as well.
