Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The FBR made an update to their website on the 27th May saying the were spinning up a new team dedicated to FBR. The same page STILL quotes a year to 18 months to process. You would think they would change that. It seems like it's more accurately 2.5 years for some of our posters. It feels slower n...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Sigh. Was happy to get an email that my citizenship is about to be approved and my certificate mailed. However that was almost a month ago now. Obvs I just want it asap so I can stick the damn thing in an envelope straight back to them for the passport wait. Any recent advice on how long Between th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The date format in this forum is confusing. Are most of you posting as MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YY? It appears to be a mix of both. When I first came on here it was more common to use DD MM YY, however I have seen a lot more MM DD YY recently Personally, when date writing in general, I tend to always writ...

I'm a 10th Feb 2020 applicant, checking my emails daily (well actually hourly... ok if I'm honest every time I pick up my phone!). It can't be too long now, surely?
I'm exactly the same, halfway between excited and wishing it was over :)

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Could I ask a quick question in relation to witnesses please? I am planning to use a Lecturer friend of mine, however I know for a fact that he's mostly teaching and rarely logs into his phone (or at his desk) - do they contact witnesses, and if so, should I find someone else who is more desk based...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My great grandmother was Irish. I'm not sure if my parent is on the FBR and my parent is deceased, so there's no way for me to ask. Is there some way to query the FBR to to determine if my parent is on it? I sent an email to the consulate but got linked to the FBR site so I'm not sure where to go f...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

In looking at the Spreadsheet this morning, 28 months seems to be fairly typical of the current processing time - so at a guess another month until the Feb 2020 club receive emails I think we can be fairly confident that they are 'mainly' working on the back end of Jan 2020 now, probably the 29/30th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi guys, quick question regarding the witnessing ... I'd rather not risk getting it done wrong. Is it just a case of having them sign the items stating "I certify that this person is this person" Type of thing? Then I assume they just sign and date the application form or something? I didn't find a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Have many February 2020 applicants started hearing back yet? It seems like we've been stuck in January 2020 for months  I am only aware of one Feb 2020 applicant being approved (outside pregnancy) and this seemed like a huge anomaly - it was something like 15 Feb against no-one else in Feb hea...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yea, I've never seen the chat as a method of expediting anything, rather just a way to get an answer to quick status questions. Obviously the context now is unprecedented between Covid and Brexit and it seems important to give those of us who are now at 2+ years a method of getting status. Nothing ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

wait, so they have 17 people working through a backlog of 30,000 applications?! It also appears they removed the live chat link from its usual location. I can't find it at all anymore. Yes - and according to the same link it was only ever 18 at its peak Before the onset of Covid-19, 18 staff were a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I think we know this, but on Kildare Street today Simon Coveney Since the reopening of the FBR Service in November 2021, there have been 17 staff assigned to FBR entitlement checking. Three thousand applications have been processed to date in 2022. The Entitlement Team are currently processing appli...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It seems that passport applications have gone crazy recently (which I think was partly expected from memory of earlier posts on KildareStreet) The main issue that is driving pressure at the moment is just the sheer volume of applications... I think it was 137,000 in January, it was over 150,000 in F...

Thanks for the perspective, duffy. I am a Feb 2020 and will be away from email contact for 3 weeks starting late April. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

No new posts in 3 days? That must be a record, or there's a problem with my account... I suspect that December 2019/January 2020 was the absolute peak for applications once the Brexit 'deal' was reached, and that's why it's feeling slow for those of us who were Feb 2020 applicants. In line with thi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

P.S.- after 4 weeks of an endless loop between NYC distribution centers the USPS sent my passport parcel back to Ireland! They knew there was a problem but were absolutely useless in solving it. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I am in a similar situation Pb300, my children's FBR FBR docs were received on 7 March 2019 so we have now gone past the 3 year point. I spoke to the FBR urgent enquiries line last week and was told something along the same lines, that were "issues" with some early 2019 applications and advised to ...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

We got the same Veterinary surgeon who signed his passport form to verify it with a statement and signature and business stamp. I don't think this option is valid if you're IN Ireland, only if you're outside of Ireland when you apply. See here: "If you do not have a Public Services Card, you must s...
